Is it worth $20? How much is it normally?

$12 for the first years release, and $15 the second.
I'd pay $20 all day fwiw. I only have one of each vintage left and if I saw either for 20 bucks I'd jump all over it.

The beer is very, very good and worth $20 IMO. FWIW, I'd be willing to trade for it $4$ at $20.

Bottle shop or bar? bottle shop, that seems high considering I paid 13.49 on release day, bar that seems on par or low. But i mean it has been six months. Id get it considering its on par with alot of the big stouts around the States.

Amazing beer. I'd pay $20 for a bottle if I could find one now. I'm kicking myself for not buying a $130 case when I had the chance..

I think it is worth it at 6 months from a bar.

I have never had it, and at that price, I would buy it in an instant.

I'd say it's worth $20, but as others have mentioned it was available for less when it was released. It's my favorite beer from North Carolina.

Excellent beer that somehow went from an insta-whale mega hype of the week to under the radar in about 18 months.

At a bar I'd do it in a minute, and I'd expect that kinda price. I paid 14 bucks, and I believe 20 at a bar is pretty reasonable. Wish I had more, I traded away more than I drank though.

I think a lot of that has to do with the backlash from the rest of the country after many NC BAs grossly overhyped it upon release. Some of the craft enthusiasts around here went way overboard singing its praises and everyone called them out as the jackasses that they are, resulting in it actually being ignored by many who believed it was a product of the NC hypists and nothing more. Unfortunately for the beer, and the folks who dismissed it and never seeked it out and tried it, it was phenominal. It probably deserved most of the hype it got, but again, some NC BAs act like fools when it comes to things like this. I personally thought it was the best BBL stout to come out of this state, just barely edging out ORF. But I was also pretty generous with it, and filled swingtops from a keg of it for many trades. I'm fine with it being under the radar now... In Asheville it sits on shelves for weeks after its release!

I would be interested to know where these shelves are so I can make my way there when the next release rolls around.

Mac's Speed Shop in Steele Creek had it on their bottle list last week for $20.
