I think they're both decent enough beers. Would gladly accept one, but hardly ever buy them.

That's funny about Victory and BP. Last week I picked up sixes of both Helles and Longfin and was impressed with both. They were very similar tasting and true to style real lagers for sure. The ones from Germany all have a slight skunk taste in the finish so when lager calls I go domestic lately.

I didn't see it mentioned but try Troegs Sunshine Pils if you can get it in Virginia. It's a summer seasonal, and it's delish.

That's a good plan. It's "California Common" and Anchor's California Lager isn't one. You'd probably be interested in the story behind the historic approach of their California Lager - I'm sure it's on their website somewhere. Steam is one of those beers that anybody interested in 20th century American beer needs to try a few times. It's given me remarkably different impressions over the years. There's lack of chatter about Port City, but I like their product. Just like Anchor Steam, Derecho Common has given me incredibly different impressions on different occasions, but I don't remember it recalling Steam at all (but that elusiveness might be throwing me way off).

Sure. Brooklyn Lager is shitty Vienna lager and Kona longboard is a great American Pale Lager
