What beer are you drinking now? #995

I finally got a chance to try Heady! I was so excited as this was the #1 beer remaining on my bucket list. My thoughts after drinking it? I liked it a lot and see why it has such a great reputation. I don't think I would have known it was a DIPA if given in a blind taste test as it is not overly bitter and very easily drinkable. At the same time, would I have guessed it was the #1 beer on this site's top 250 list? Probably not. Don't get me wrong, I really, really enjoyed it, but at the end of the day it is just a beer. With that being said I think I might have enjoyed Pliny just a little more, but it's tough to say. I sure wouldn't turn down either though. I drank from the glass this time, but plan to drink directly from the can next time as per the instructions on the back of the can.

 

I have to ask as I am constantly trying to find healthy breakfast options. Is that a bagel with avocado on it? Looks very good

 

I'm no @dsigmon but a 4 plus mile run with 11 pull ups and 45 push-ups thrown in the middle of it is nothing to sneeze at and deserves a reward. Especially when it's already 80 degrees out. Danky goodness while I wind down.

Easing into the day with some Blackberry gose. I reviewed this on NBS. I also just noticed my Great Divide glass is oddly shaped at the bottom. I wonder if they are all like that or the glass blower was a bit tipsy? One of my favorite bottle labels from Odell.

 

Three weeks old and the hops are just bursting. This one is really growing on me.

slight excursion. a bit over a week ago shared a couple of photos of a hawk pacing in our walkway. judging the constant noise exchange i believed there was a baby nesting.

hard to make out what's going & probably requires some imagination. there's a couple of adults having a confrontation by the nest.






and here's what all the fuss is about. s/he escaped the nest & ensuing bar fight then perched on the pole behind my neighbors fence.

watching the wimbledon final with a kent falls farmer's table. this beer is just about as good for this kind of thing as a beer can be. crisp, not overpowering, refreshing, lots of flavor.

now if federer can get that break back here in the 3rd set i'll be *really* happy.

 

Always love to see a bit of love for our DE breweries. What do you think? I would not put this as one of my favorites.

Also—tasting blind and I gave the edge to Aphrodite, actually. Seemed to have just a touch more going on, with almost a green vegetal flavour, like the way coffee beans smell when they're just starting to lose the husk and take on a little colour. Really complex. If you have a chance, the side-by-side is pretty interesting.

Is it just me or are brewers learning how to make a low ABV IPA. I like this one a lot.

I can confirm that my The Czar wasn't bottled in 2005, and also isn't 11.03% ABV... but BeerPulse's URLs are locked.

Yeah, Grunion is one of my favorites. Lots of flavor packed in that bottle. Sadly, last one I had. Tasted so good after all that crap, suffice to say, it didn't last long.
