I'm driving through Atlanta next Saturday and would like to find a spot where I could get fresh Tropicalia and Athena that is close to I-20, if anyone has any suggestions I'd greatly appreciate it. Hoping for a situation where I could just pull off an exit and grab some quick because I'll have some super-whiny kids at that point haha.

    Thanks,
    Matt

I had to go into Athens to find it about a month ago when i was in the same situation. It's really hit or miss outside there.

That is going to be a tough pull. You might able to grab Athena, but trop because disappears any time it gets dropped in hours. Atlanta seems to get it on tuesday and friday so you might get lucky on a saturday, but chances are it is gone before everyone gets off work on friday.

Also it is always limited anywhere in the city so 1 sixer per for trop. maybe no limit on Athena, na nah na nahhhhh.

Even us locals have trouble finding Tropicalia. I would just call a few places along your route thru Atlanta and see if they have it. Unfortunately, a lot of the good stores are up 75 north that would most likely get a large allocation, like Hop City, Green's or Tower.

Jeez it must be smaller distro than I thought. Or maybe just cuz its that dang good. I called Hop City and the lady said even if they get 5 cases and its 1x6er per, it will still sell out in an hour, maybe two.

I highly suggest swinging by My Friends Growler Shop. It's right off 20 and your best bet at landing some. They basically have a tap dedicated to Trop.

Creature Comforts went immediately for a grocery store agreement with Kroger. I'm unsure of the details of that agreement, but it's the primary reason more Tropicalia doesn't make it outside of Athens. Or at least that's what the distributor told me (which doesn't necessarily make it true).

Thanks everyone for the tips and info, if I do grab some I'm sure it will be poured on arrival so maybe a couple growlers on the way to the beach is the way to go.

    This has been denied.

It makes it all over Atlanta, and south of the city even just fine.

The simple answer is the brewery can't produce enough right now to meet demand. They've ordered larger tanks but right now even brewing around the clock there's not enough to satisfy the market. I order it every week, end up getting maybe four cases a month, and even imposing limits and not posting we have it, it still sells out in 30 minutes.

Yep, I've actually found it as far South as Just Tap'd in Warner Robins on several occasions. It's out there, you just have to be lucky enough to be there when they put it on the shelf. Personally I like it, but I've passed it up on more than one occasion for Transmigration of Souls.

Just checked out ToS and it looks damn tasty too. Is it easier to find? Never heard of Orpheus

It's at the end of it's run, but a few places still have stock.

Really? I spoke with a guy at Orpheus when I was there for the 1 year anniversary and he said they would be brewing Transmigration through September.

@Berrymon You should really check out Orpheus brewing and throw in Burnt Hickory while you are at it. Both make some excellent beer.

You guys are gonna make it hard to get to Folly with all this deliciousness I have to find on my way through Georgia.

I hope it is true because it's my favorite beer brewed in Georgia at the moment. Don't hold me to it, but he definitely said September. I even called my cousin who went with me and asked him just to verify what the guy said after reading this post and he said September as well.
