Yeah, it's ridiculous. I have no idea why anybody buys loons from him at the prices he asks. Most of his other stuff is priced fairly, though you'll find something weird from time to time. I have been able to try a lot of new West Coast beers because of his list though, and I've also gotten a few nice releases from him. ADWTD, Parabola. Stuff like that comes and goes within a day in DFW so I have no chance at it here.

There's nothing out here. I go to a decent shop in Sherman which is 45 minutes away. 903 Brewers is out there too, so whenever I can talk someone into going there for food and beer we do that. Other than that it's the normal spots in DFW when I can make it out there.

I would pretty vehemently disagree. I'm not saying you are, but if people start taking that stand then more bottleshops start being ok charging trade prices and consumers are punished.

Thus "Devil's Advocate". At the end of the day, it's no secret that high-end beer pricing is pretty far off from where the supply/demand curve meet (4 hour long lines at releases and there still are hundreds of people left without... demand >> supply).

I LOVE that it is this way, especially since I have found such a great group of people that do not try to capitalize on the differential (as compared with the viper pit, which generally does). I would absolutely want to keep it this way as long as is possible, but in a free economy, eventually the market corrects itself, much as we all hate to admit it.

@LakerLeith and other CA gents; how easy are Cellarman bottles to come by? A buddy (likes beer, not a BA) in SF is asking for something he can get me for my birthday, and that was my first thought, but I don't want to send him on a goose chase.

If they are hard to come by, how about Rare Barrel? That was my 2nd idea and I know they are pretty nearby too.

Cellarman hasn't been for sale (to go in bottles) for about 2 weeks now
I think all that's left is Farmhouse Noir.
I would say Rare Barrel would be easier if your friend lives in SF, as Rare Barrel is in Berkeley and Sante is in Capitola. Rare Barrel is much closer and he/she would be able to buy bottles to go much easier there than at SARA
