Good morning lords of lager and princesses of pales!

Finally harvested some hops this week which will go well with all the American ales I hope to knock out this year.

Got my grubby mits on some Bell's 2 Hearted this week in hopes of convincing some of those cool Michigan breezes to head south. Not much luck though.

I apologize for the early entry but school work and family time are top priority today. Not sure if I'll have any new beers today but that's where you can help!

Pick something new, DRINK it, and TELL us about it. Reviews and/or good descriptions are kindly requested and pictures are icing on the cake.

Thanks for keeping NBS fresh, informative, and fun.

Hope your new beers are of Olympic proportion today!

    Peace, love, and malty-ness,

    Matt

    Greetings NBSer's,

Kinda' gloomy in SCMN, but still with humidity and some heat. Apparently this will be the first July in which the high was at least in the 80's for the whole month. Maybe there is an infinite amount of records to be broken .

Anyway, enjoying Olympic swimming and dreaming big dreams that could never have been, but that won't stop me.

Staying semi-local with the entry today. Again (like last week) out of Wisconsin and Lake Louie Brewery ("this is living") - and their IPA called Kiss the Lips which refers to the country song lyrics, "it's hard to kiss the lips at night that chew your ass out all day long". I'll buy that. :grinning:

    A nice solid drinker.

My best to all NBSer's and have a splendid week.

New to me Estrella Damm Daura.
I echo Bitterbill's sentiments: "For a gluten free beer, this tastes pretty good."
I might even add 'It's Pretty DAMM good', nyuk nyuk!

I'm trying something completely new to me which is a sour wheat ale. I love sours and this one doesn't disappoint. White Birches Berliner Weisse. It's not the best Wheat ale, and not the best sour, but somewhere in between. I think I would definitely pick it up again if I were in the mood for a nice summer sour. [IMG]

No new beer for me today but my first Avery Ellie's Brown from a can. Best before Dec 16 and one of the better no frills Browns out there. Malty, roasty, slightly grainy, minimum bitterness. Yes. It is a good one.

    Greetings, Fellow NBSers,

Mid 80s and sunny in the Inland Northwest. After summer began with rain, unseasonably hot & humid temperatures, and combinations of the two, the last couple of weeks has seen Spokane settle down to normal-ish weather for this time of year. Spent the day doing various chores

Started off with a canned beer from a Seattle brewery I'd not previously heard of:

There's a word for this beer, and that word is "meh."

Wanting something more memorable, I cracked open my first Blue Dot:

Not quite the life changing beer that I've heard it described as in the past, but still pretty damn good!

I opened up one of my HF's Sweet Evil
Smells a lot like white grapes and honey, rather sweet over all. The flavor is much the same, very sweet tasting white grapes, honey and maybe a little bit like sugar covered dates? A teeny-tiny-tad-bit of alcohol, though overall it really covers up the 8.8% VERY well. The mouth feel is interesting, too thin to be syrupy but it coats the mouth well and goes down smooth. I don't remember the exact cost, but it was very reasonable for a HF beer. I would say if you like HF then you should definitely give it a try, however, like all the other HF examples of any style, the flavor is intense and the experience is bold. If you're not one to enjoy a sweet beer, you're probably gonna wanna split it with some others, or maybe not even drink it.

EDIT: hmmm, too stupid to post a picture, maybe next time I'll be less stupid and more successful.

    Happy NBS to all...

What started out as a gray, muggy and rainy day turned into a mostly sunny and fairly comfortable 80 something degree day here on Long Island. Not bad for doing some light yard work.

My new beer is from Three Heads Brewing in Rochester, NY...

New Coffee Pale Ale Sunday (week 388)

That's not a misprint. Greetings NBS'ers. 10 min. of heavy rain didn't spoil a trip to the Big Apple, esp. as it meant sharing talk and company with Jeff O'Neil while drinking fantastic beer in a wonderful location, Blind Tiger. First time there, will be back. No pics, and no formal review, not that kind of day.

However did have a beer not listed yet, Peekskill Brewery Wake Up Call, a coffee APA. It has a nose chock full of coffee, hops mingling, mainly some citrusy, light and sweet honey tasting malt hints. You'd think it an odd combo, as I did, but this baby rocks! It is balanced and full without overpowering coffee, really tasty, though from coffee in its aroma I thought it couldn't be. Interesting, delicious, another homerun for Jeff O'Neil.

Hope you all have a fine American beer in your hand. Cheers!

    New Rye Pale Ale

Just back from a trip to the Northern Lower that included visits to North Peak, Filling Station, and Mackinaw Breweing. All good to great stops.

Workout, yard work, and the Olympics watching took a pause for this fine brew before dinner.
