The first time I had it, I waited about an hour for it, but I was waiting on a bar stool at fatheads drinking hot-wing-garnished bloody mary and eating delicious pancakes w the maple syrup cbs is aged in. Not so bad.

Sunday after Big Pour, at their anniversary brunch? The waffles and draft list (usually a combination of CBS, KBS, Wake-n-Bake, etc.) is a pretty sweet way to start your day; look forward to this each year.

CBS was one of the best beers I've had in the past year, and is absolutely worth seeking out. I too, find Founder's to be on the "meh" side but this beer is phenomenal.

    Yes, and the bacon-on-a-stick!

For those who plan to go, I would appreciate if you update this thread once the CBS kicks. I would like to get some after class around 9:30, though it probably won't last.

Just out of curiosity, what do you find underwhelming from them? They make some of the best beers in several different categories so it is strange to hear that. I would have a hard time naming more than a handful of other breweries that offer up the high quality level of "regular run" mixed with "seasonal" offerings that they do.

Yup - even excluding CBS and KBS (which are both great IMO), Breakfast Stout, All Day IPA, and Dark Penance are probably in my top 5-10 for their respective styles.

Founders Porter is one of the best out there. Harvest Ale, Red's Rye are great as well.

Harvest ale is great, too bad its always 2 months old by the time it hits shelves in PA.

Agreed. But that is on PA, not Founders. This most recent batch of Harvest Ale was spot on. All Michigan Hops, clean and juicy (i am using this term as a nod out to one of the lurkers who reads this board).

Regular ass breakfast stout might be one of my top 5 favorite beers all time, BA or not. It's so good. And iI agree, I like KBS much more than CBS. Hell, I loved CBH way more than CBS and I've had both about a dozen times. Just don't get teh CBS hype. A fun argument to have is if you're a Bell's or Founders "guy". People usually feel strongly one way or another for some reason.

And thus the term RABS is born.

The fact you had 3 bottles of CBS and didn't try it proves it as well.:stuck_out_tongue:

If I had to pick one non-BA Imperial Stout to drink for the rest of my life it would be FIS. And not just for the price or anything like that. That beer is better in it's style category than anything else Founder's makes in it's respective style category (never had CBS, mind you). And I'd contend it's better than most RIS' on the market, period - limited or not. As I predicted it would, it finished atop a blind tasting we did of some heavy hitter limited Imperial Stouts (MZ, Baller, Darkness, Darklord, Kate the Great - many more that I can't remember). Not sure if it finished first or if it finished second behind MZ, but either way, that beer is phenomenal.

Off the top of my head, I would guess that my top 3 favorite non-BA stouts of all time are FIS, Stone IRS, and Voodoo BBVD

I'm curious of you guys who find Founders to be generally unimpressive, if there are any craft breweries with major distribution that you're really impressed by. I've always thought of Founders and Bells as two of the most consistently solid major craft breweries.

(seems @troygreer beat me to the question)

CBS doesn't really have good prime time shows. People hype it up, but I never know why either, but really Fox and NBC do the best at tv.
