You can go to one bar in NYC, preferably around williamsburg and Bushwick, which do you choose? Will be in NY for just 2 days, wont have a ton of time, any suggestions for a place or 2 to see? cheers Don
If you're talking specifically Williamsburg I'd recommend Spuyten Duyvil and Barcade in one go. 10 minute walking distance. Mugs Ale House is also within 10 mins of Spuyten. Otherwise, Blind Tiger in the West Village and the usual suspects.
barcade. the bottles won't cost $70 nor will they lie about what they're pouring in order to further gouge you like spuyten.
If you're referring to the Adam/Adam from the Wood confusion, I thought it was determined that this was either a) a genuine mix-up or b) actually Adam from the Wood, and not some sort of disingenuous money-grubbing maneuver. I can't seem to find the thread now, but I'm just about positive someone from the bar or otherwise "in the know" weighed in and cleared this up.
b) is completely false. someone did come clear it up -- someone from hair of the dog came in and said that it wasn't adam from the wood (cherry or not), and it was just adam. http://beeradvocate.com/community/threads/how-bout-that-cherry-adam-at-spuyten-duyvil-today.1322/
Without a doubt Fraunces Tavern, down on Pearl St at the southern tip of Manhattan. FT has the best tap beer in NY, from the Porterhouse Brewery in Dublin. FT might be the oldest tavern in the country, it's also chock full of Revolutionary era history, and there's a museum. On Sundays between 3 and 6 they have live folk music, frequently Irish. Avoid the A Brain Blasta, rather potent.
Been to Dublin several times, most recently about 6 months ago and know the Porterhouse well, some solid beers, one of their beers, plain porter I think it was, I loved, but not sure if it is something I would really go out of my way for. Barcade sounds like a winner! thanks a lot!
Thanks again for the advice! Went to Spuyten and Barcade, both were great bars! I love Galaga so Ill give the nod to Barcade Champs in the area was wonderful for breakfast, I highly recommend it.
