Nope. We don't get them, nor the Trader Joes holiday beer from Unibroue either. I usually get both in CA when I go to visit.

Any recommendations for cheap food in portland? I like any type of food and have a car - a good tap list is not necessary but would be a plus

    Food carts

edit: I should also add a lot of the food cart pods have podbars with solid draft lists.

Are the food carts really "cheap"? in Portland?

Here in DC they're often overpriced and not that good.

$6-8 dollars for two meals worth of Thai or Indian food? $8 for a wood-fired pizza with buffalo mozzarella and local charcuterie? Gonna go with "yes".

Yep! Even the creative carts tend to be less than $10 bucks and most have cheaper options too. Traditional/"boring" carts give absurd size for cost dishes.

Plus, are they really "carts"? Sure, they're theoretically mobile, but when was the last time anybody pushed one down the street? Yes, I am this pedantic.

way better than calling them "food trucks" like the rest of the world does, because the majority of them aren't trucks...

    (In order of preference)

Bailey's and order Santeria from across the way.

SE 28th food carts and eat at Wolf and Bears and/or Guero, drink at beer truck.

Apex and/or Beermongers and order Los Gorditos from next door.

Carte Blanche to go on Hawthorne, cans of Vortex from Zupans, then Laurelhurst park to enjoy.

Slice and a pint at Baby Doll Pizza in SE.

    Bunk Bar.

Well, mostly I still call 'em "roach coaches". And, it seems as if in PDX, the trailers get parked in one spot and stay there. Around me, the food trucks (and it's about a 60/40 split between trucks and trailers) are in different places different days, or within the same day.

I head to South Portland often for work, so I really appreciate this! Thanks!! A good brewery just outside of Portland is 'Two Kilts Brewing'. Excellent brews to be had!

    Cheers

    Weekend getting-too-close-to-page-two bump.

Of course OBF is this weekend. But if I'm hitting a beer fest, it's gonna be Bailey's 8th Anniversary party.

Smart move. Had a nice time as always at the OBF, but the beer selection at the Anniversary party was amazing.

Just typing "bump" is no fun, so here's some fun things going on this weekend:
    • Roscoe's "All Oregon" summit is tonight, and they've got a new Barley Brown's Beer called Pygmy Pale that I've never even heard of.
    • Loyal Legion looks to have a solid tap list including 4 Barley Browns and a couple of Boneyard (for those searching)
    • Rogue's Bones & Brew festival is tomorrow. It might be a bit too warm to stand on the concrete in the middle of the Pearl, but it's usually a fun little event.
Oh, and Katie O'Brien's still has a handful of the HOTD and Firestone BA beers from their CBC event, and they've been trickling them out a couple at a time.

I guess I just need to stop and see what they have there (at KO's). There's absolutely no mention of this on the website, and the online taplist (have no idea if it's current) doesn't list anything from HOTD or FW.

It may have changed by now, but when I was there a couple days ago they had double DBA and Single Malt Adam.

Just wanted to give a shout out to this post and everyone that contributed to it. I was in Portland for a few weeks this summer and regularly referenced this post. Great information. It never led me astray. I was lucky to be in Portland and to have some badass beers while I was there. Cheers!

Heading to Portland this Wednesday-Saturday, staying in Ladd's Addition. Any events going on around town that we should check out? This thread had been a huge help. Looking forward to visiting.

Other than APEX, are there other highly recommended places that are cash only? We get in town around 10:00 tonight and are thinking we'll walk to APEX or Double Dragon for a drink. Thanks!
