She said my Grandfather won this at a raffle sometime in the 80's, it's still full of Bourbon, probably not any good though as I don't think it would hold up well in a ceramic container like that. Doubt it's worth much either but I think it's pretty damn cool, hopefully my next house has a bar area of some type so I can display it.

So Locals round #7 will likely be sometime this fall. For planning purposes, do people have other BIF conflicts (stouts #5, etc.) coming up? I'm probably going to host this round and want to avoid overwhelming people with simultaneous BIFs to maximize participation.

I really do NOT like that change. I'm OK with only counting the reviews (well not really but understand), but I HATE that I can not see other peoples ticks. Many beers have no reviews, but do have ticks. Now I must go to another site to see if it has decent ratings or not, even if it is just a few. Saves me from buying something that is terrible. I'm a ticker, but there are enough good ones I don't need shit ones. Oh well....

 

You can still see what everyone has had...just looked at your profile and all 1662 brews were there.

 

Yeah, but when you look up a beer, you can no longer see the ticks, so unless there is a full rating you get nothing. I like when it showed the ticks, at least they are an indication...

 

Yeah you're not kidding. The list much more closely resembles Beers of Fame now, with a lot less "flavor of the month" and a lot more old standards. I jumped up by about 40 of them ticked too, from about 110 to about 150, and if you count the ones I've got on hand but haven't ticked yet, I'm at about 190.

This is what I was saying (though I forget in which thread) about the quality of the data. It is not "quality over quantity" to move to reviews only, from a data perspective, quantity IS quality.

 

I think if you look at a beer and check the "display all" box it will list all the ratings (not just reviews), so while it won't recalculate anything, you can still quickly scan the last few (a decent number, I think) ticks

 

You can select to see both reviews and ticks, but I don't think there is a way to see what the rating is with both the review and ticks combined.

I must have caught it during the conversion, because it would not show me the ticks as I tried to check in beers yesterday. I see that it is working now. So, I am happy once again!
