I know there are a bunch of threads about the best places to go in San Diego, but I have something specific. I have some family going down to SD next Friday/Saturday and will be there a couple of days. They have told me that they will go to a couple places to grab some goodies if I want them to. The problem is that they really don’t know a whole lot about craft beer. So my question is, what places should I tell them to go? A bottle shop that would have some workers that would help out people with picking out some good local stuff to send back up to Washington would be great. Or a brewery/bar to pick up a growler that I can't get up here.

And to give an idea around the area they will be staying in, I think they are going to be at the Crown Plaza in Mission Valley.

have them go to Olive Tree Market in Ocean Beach. Tell them to ask for Mike, he is usually in around noon, depending on if he is working the tasting room or not will determine how available he is after 4pm. I know he has helped out other people visiting SD to pick out beer. OB is close to Mission Valley, and is the closest beach town, so it would be good for them to check out the area anyways. A good place for them to eat is Pizza Port in OB, only a few blocks from the beach, good food, wide array of beer, and kid friendly (if that matters)

Palm Springs liquor in Lemon Grove. Top of my list these days. Things like Temptation are $12.99 which are $15.99 everywhere else.

Clems, Mesa price and many others. I've seen a steady uptick in the pricing of RR sours.

I figured they would be heading to the beach and thought this might be the best option, so good to hear great things. Thanks!
