Looks like bomber. The limited release series. Label says 1 pt. 6 FL. OZ.

Often the debate has nothing to do with quality, but with the amount of beer they produce. The Brewers Association defines a craft brewery as one with "an annual production of 6 million barrels of beer or less."

Even by standards of production, they are still craft. They don't make anywhere near 6 million barrels. I believe they make slightly more than 2 million.

People told me I was crazy when I said that Sam Adams Double Pumpkin was actually pretty good.

True. After some research, it seems that Sam was trying to maintain their craft status and asking that the "small brewer" output jump from two million to six million barrels.

It also seems that two million is what the Brewers Association had, so they must have bumped it up as well.

I couldn't care less if they're "craft" or not. I enjoy their beer.

I had this at the brewery last year, and thought it was just OK. My wife didn't love it, and she loves pumpkin beers including the regular SA pumpkin ale. Not sure if it's the same recipe as last year. However, we only had 4-5 oz pours, and they were VERY cold. I tried to warm mine up with my hands but all it did was make my hands frozen. hah. I don't get why the taps at their are that cold. I'll still give this batch a shot, though.

Sorry. I wasn't trying to put words in your mouth but simply stating that I thought they were quite different.

I find it hard to believe you don't think the concept of the Fat Jack label seems influenced by Hopslam's design. Clearly it isn't a carbon copy, but changing colors and fonts doesn't negate the conceptual similarities.

The new line of brews they have out are all pretty damn good....and for $4.99 to $5.99 per bottle, it's well worth it.

    I'm confused - I hope I don't pick up a ABInbev product instead....

I dislike that designation anyway. To me, the designation of craft refers the quality of ingredients and beer styles produced. If you don't want to call them a "micro" brewery, that's fine. To not call them craft is penalizing their success.

Fat Jack may be the variety of pumpkin being used.

Will this be available in bombers or just six packs?

I would assume just the bombers since it will go inline with the rest of their small batch series (except for Grumpy Monk, but that was just available in the IPA sampler.) Plus the picture of the label shows "1 pt 6 oz" at the bottom/center of the pic. I have been wrong many times before though. Again, it's just my assumption.

AB Jack's Pumpkin Spice was discontinued several years back (thank goodness!)
