Yes, this sounds ridiculous, but it might not be entirely far-fetched. The Careys really don't like people scamming at these releases, and they're not afraid to use technology where appropriate.

 

No far-fetched at all. The technology exists, and it's not terribly expensive to implement either.

 

Well if they did that, i would just have to cut all my mules right hands off so they can go through a second time. Problem solved!

 

If your gonna use any technology get a scanner to scan ID's. Scan intially for line order, rescan for purchase, and if your caught breaking the rules they can ban you by flagging your ID to prevent future abuse.

Personally I feel like either one is overboard considering all we (supposed adults) have to do is not try to abuse the system to obtain more than the alotted amount of a luxury item we don't need.

Well...these are FIBs we're talking about here. Their humanity is certainly in question when it comes to beer releases.

 

You can prove age through various forms of ID... For instance, even if they were to ban your driver's license you could still use a passport or state id

That's one of many flaws so its a good thing I'm not advocating for them to do that.

 

You could use the passport but it'd be illegal to have a valid drivers license and state Id at the same time. So I wouldn't do that but I guess other people might.

You're not supposed to be able to get one when you have the other. Similarly if you go in for a new license they ask for your old one. It is likely to discourage letting underage individuals have easy access to a fake ID.

Realistically, if it even is really illegal, it is completely unenforceable and doubtful anyone has ever been charged for any such thing. He's just nitpicking

Horseshit. It's not illegal at all. In fact, they used to recommend it in IL. A moving violation often means the officer takes your license, which is returned to you upon payment of the ticket or showing up in court. State IDs are useful.

 

Last time I had a state ID was when I lived in Indiana and they revoked it upon getting a drivers license. After looking at the laws on the states websites, IN says you cannot have a state ID and a drivers license at the same time, even if the state ID is from another state. WI law says the exact same. IL says that upon getting a drivers license you must turn in any other state IDs you have.

So no, you cannot legally hold both IDs it looks like. Who cares though, no one is coming to arrest you.

 

why allow anything other than a DL? Scan it, keep record of scanned licenses until end of day, delete records, repeat. You bring a passport or gov issued id then you don't get beer...simple. I know there are exceptions, like military that don't have to have a valid DL, that opens a new can of worms!

 

I'm pretty sure they're just gonna go with the sharpy on the back of the hand thing because they realize that the majority of people at snot abusing the system.

 

I've lost track as to what's sarcasm and what's real at this point...
