Thanks to everyone posting, its nice to see that im not the only critic when it comes to these breweries everyone covets. Reason i brought Greenflash up, is because of my recent visit to their new facility, and because of their planned expansion to the east coast. Its gonna be more mediocre beer making its way to the east

Maine Beer makes some fantastic stuff but their pricing is WAY out of line. I wish they would also get with the program and ditch the whole 16 oz bottle thing.

Innovation doesn't always equate into good beers. But based on what they and Kane are doing and have done for the state in terms of beer, I do applaud them. Without them, we wouldn't have the influx of breweries we have been getting lately.

BDG didn't impress me at all. Same with Hop Pun. Worst of all was Dune Fruit.

Beer isn't the only factor in my choice, availability is also a factor for me. It has been getting increasingly harder and harder for me to get Carton. My easiest option is a growler that I can fill in NY near my work. Getting cans is hit or miss as of late.
There is a lot more from them for me to try. And I will. Not only to have more from them, but to support the local scene.

I know everyone does IPA's these days. But as a mostly IPA drinker, I see other breweries (not just local) also jumping in on other style's that are hot now (Dune Fruit).

Just my opinion. I still recommend Boat and Odub to anyone who asks about NJ IPA's (along with Head High and my personal NJ favorite, Overhead).

I don't disagree with what your saying, I just question singling them out as overrated. They seem very appropriately rated. They are 4.1 overall with attention for their great beers and middling numbers for their more experimental ones. Overrated is lining up for 1 of the 500 great IPAs available in the tristate area or the latest copy of Mexican Cake; not saying that the creative brewery that basically invented/makes the benchmark session IPA is being creative yet again.

IDK how it is by you but they are priced reasonably here. 5.50 for lunch I didnt think was too bad. I personally dont love their beer but I wouldnt consider them overpriced.

If only they would let the wild bugs in there and stop pasteurizing, imagine what we could have.

I agree with jlsims...they are $5.95 around my area, doesn't seem too bad. Not my favorite beers, but definitely high quality. I pick up a fresh Lunch when I see them.

So it's the price equivalent of a $27 six-pack, essentially the same pricing model as bombers, just slightly smaller and thus cheaper. I like their beers, but I have a hard time saying they're well priced when I'd have to pony up 12 bucks just to knock down a couple pints of an APA/IPA after work.

I didn't say well priced, I said not too bad. To each his own.

I beg to differ. Great Lakes is an outstanding brewery that puts out a solid lineup faithfully. For me the over rated breweries are Bells and Maine beer too.

I'd say FFF is overrated, and they're one of my favorite breweries, and PF is one of my top 5 beers.

The thing about FFF is that people come into beer stores/bars looking for it, and will drink literally whatever they make, because "it's Three Floyds, man!" I don't think that's called for, since it's not like all their beers are superior to the other billion that abound in Chicago.

If by not overrated, you mean "one of the best breweries out there," then I agree. I just think that they aren't the beginning and end of the conversation, as a lot of other people seem to think they are.

Lots. These are my three favorite to hate on as of late.
Mikkeller (except beer geek, those are actually good)
3 Floyds (decent, but not as great as the hype monsters say it is)
    Bells
Goose Island (except for BCS products)

Three Floyds, easily. They also happen to make the single most overrated individual beer in my book (Dark Lord).

Surly. Not a fan of what I've had, and that includes Darkness.

Wicked Weed. Decent, but not worth what they go for/were going for in 2014.

Rogue. Ok, they're not actually rated high to begin with, I just hate Rogue.

I traded for an assortment of FFF beers to see what the deal is and I was underwhelmed by all of them. Zombie Dust led the pack. My vote goes to them.
