With so many possible contenders to the crown (Great Divide, Casey, Crooked Stave, OB, Comrade, etc...) I would have to say that Avery is nailing it; they really seem to be hitting their stride right now. On top of some very solid year round releases, their rotating, special release and BA programs are consistently experimental and on point.

Would have to agree with this list in regards to Colorado.

I agree. I was half way expecting to see kane there. And I might just put them over carton. Either is a good choice and represents the states beer extemely well

I would agree with this. A lot better breweries in Indiana. Only thing I really have liked from 3 Floyds is Zombie Dust.

WA, CA, and OR each seem like fair choices. Each state has lots of contenders worthy of debate, but RR, Breakside, and Fremont brew a wide variety of styles well, have a creative talent for incorporating unusual/culinary adjuncts, and their regular lineups are filled with world class beers (not just their limited/ specialty releases).

Still not sure how the writer got the impression Breakside's Aztec was a flagship, though.

Stoneface out of NH is a solid pick. I've not had anything by Hill Farmstead in VT, but was surprised that Alchemist wasn't the pick there.

Agree with Hoppin Frog for OH (although I've only hit a few). As a Wisconsin guy I would personally say Badger State or Central Waters but people love New Glarus so not a surprise. For AZ I can't argue Four Peaks (great place to eat and have a drink) but would personally say AZ Wilderness.

No real issues with the list. Pretty close in most states. RR is a staple, but SARA or Rare Barrel. Just sayin!

Virginia is tough to pick as you have some breweries that make 2 or 3 really good beers but the rest is meh (Hardywood, Lickinghole, Williamsburg, Brothers Craft) and have some breweries that are very solid across a variety of styles but with no real homeruns (Blue Mountain, Devil's Backbone, Champion, Three Notch'd). High points vs. consistency ...

Pretty accurate list. Of the east coast states I'd say they are pretty spot on.

Lift Bridge, apart from Silhouette and BA Silhouette, makes a lineup full of forgettable beers. To say they're in the top 5 in the state is giving them way too much credit for essentially being a one trick pony.

I think Fat Head's, Jackie O's and JAFB are the top three with little room between them, and then Columbus, Great Lakes, TBK, etc. But yea, HF isn't top 10 for me.

I'd be on board with DuClaw being rated WORST Maryland brewery. There are breweries out there with less talent, but DuClaw proudly makes beers that are ostentatious, gimmicky and embarrassing.

This is what pisses me off about DuClaw - they CAN make decent beer (see: Devil's Milk, Retribution), they just choose to release 536326 different slabs of mediocrity.

I agree, though I've only had 3 of their beers: Bare Ass Blonde - super boring. Hellrazer IPA - overly-malty mess. Sweet Baby Jesus - i can see why it's gotten popular, and it's probably gotten a lot of people interested in beer whom otherwise wouldn't have, but i could barely drink 6 oz. of the bottle of it that I split with my brother.

Also some of the worst label art I've seen, with terrible beer names.

Good People is by far the best brewery in Alabama. With Straight to Ale being a close second. Not a fan of Back Forty ...
