Sure I've drank a few Buds in my day, in cans, bottles and on tap. As long as it was damn cold it really didn't matter, it slid right down. You see I grew up out west and came of beer drinking age back in the mid 1970s and started working in a local grocery store and believe it or not some beers were actually cheaper than soda. There was Falstaff, Hamms, Carling Black Label, and several others available that were good for slamming when all you wanted was a quick cheap buzz. One of my favorites was a quart of Schlitz Malt Liquor otherwise known as "The Bull". Drop a buck and a quarter on the counter, crack the cap, 4 or 5 big swigs and BAM, you were rockin'. Bud, Miller and Coors were the "name brands" then came others like Schlitz and get this, Pabst Blue Ribbon among others. Myself I favored Miller High Life and when it came along Genuine Draft. Lite beer didn't exist and what we now call craft beer wasn't even a dream yet. My buddies that were in the military who got to travel (especially to Europe) brought home tales of wonder of all these German brews and English ales. Fast forward some 30 plus years and yea, we all are truly blessed with a wonderful world full of all these amazing small batch crafted beers of such vast style and type and most of all rich deep intense flavor. Then we join websites such as beeradvocate.com and share our opinions. Wow, pretty damn cool.

I appreciate this discussion. There have been quite a few thoughtful and informative posts, and it's making me want to revisit the macro lagers. I'm considering making up a "Retro Flight" for the next bottle share, which would include Budweiser, Miller High Life, PBR, Coors Banquet, Schlitz, and maybe one or two others.

I think it would be cool, not to mention a good palate cleanser.

Just by sheer coincidence I was in a situation earlier today where I was able to acquire a bottle of good old Buttwiper for free. Been 3 years since I last had one, I decided to give it a go again. I was right with my earlier posts about this. Bud is horrible! http://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/29/65/?ba=neenerzig

When the Bud's not free I drink tap water. So, my answer: tap.

I think the vast majority of "Beer Wars disciples" have never worked that hard a day in their life.

Bottle...and only at restaurants such as "Maryland Crab" places, burgers, etc.
But, I tell people this all the time. Having Bud or Busch on draft in Iowa, Nebraska, or Missouri is a whole different game than having it in say...Cleveland, Philly, etc.

I'm concerned that this thread exists. I trust all the appropriate sarcastic responses have already been made. :stuck_out_tongue:

Great, dry hopped bud. I hope the marketing exec's don't see this thread. Or maybe I do.

I only tried Budweiser once and it didn't impress me (a personal taste issue, not trying to impugn anyone who did or does), but end of a long, hot, and strenuous day hiking I came back to find someone had donated an cooler full of Kokanee to the the group's recovery efforts and damn if it didn't hit the spot. I suspect Budweiser would hit the spot in similar circumstances and vote: Bottle (in an ice filled cooler).
