My friends father has been collecting wine for years and most of the bottles he owns are 5-10 years old and he purchased those bottles new when released. Which leaded me to wonder how much of your cellars did you buy when the beer was released and how much was trade or bought as a vintage years later?

Probably 95% of mine were bought retail

100% retail for me... I have purchased a few beers that were released years after bottling or 'cellarded' at stores. Bought a four pack of delirium nocturnum dated 2011 off the shelf...

99% retail. I've gotten a couple of cellared bottles as extras in trades.

I buy everything retail. Sometimes you can find older bottles of Belgians and stouts on the shelves though.

The only one i remember buying old off the shelf was Brooklyn Monster after they discontinued it. If you can still find it, snag it. ~5 years it turns into a beautiful monster
