I love them both like they were my own children. It's hard to vault one over the other.

I posted this in another thread recently, seems fitting here too:

These days, I'm still confused as hell by all of this but of course palate comes into play so for me, that's probably a big part of it. For example, Smuttynose Finest Kind is quite bitter and a bit one-dimensional to me vs. say, Lagunitas' beers, which are generally not and more fruity/onion-y/garlic-y, which I don't care for much anymore. What would folks say Racer 5 is?!? How about SN's beers?!? :grimacing:

Palate change and fatigue is a very real thing in my case and these same beers just a few years ago would have wielded very different answers.

The west coast is the best coast. Only because we don't have too many east coast breweries distribute in MT.

I prefer East Coast style. More balanced, and I prefer fruity/floral over piney.

Agreed. It would be refreshing for a change to see stouts, saisons or sours being compared. And don't forget the midwest next time. On topic, my life would be empty without all three :sunglasses:

Despite being an East Coast guy, I almost went West Coast. I've had so many fantastic hoppy brews from California alone.

Then, I remembered Hill Farmstead. I don't even need the rest (although they don't hurt the case). Changed my vote at the last second.

The issue is moot, as the tension now is between the maximum IBU (old school) IPAs vs. full (tropical) flavor IPAs. And pale ales are resurgent.

    So, West Coast.

Looking ahead, for the record, @RBassSFHOPit2ME, I apologize for what I said. I know what you were trying to convey, I just wanted to be a nitpicky b**** and pick a fight (not classy), and for some reason, BA.com won't let me delete my post. Let's drink together sometime.

Also looking ahead, having read through the "Sincere message to those involved in the production of beer" thread (http://www.beeradvocate.com/communi...se-involved-in-the-production-of-beer.309388/) and educated on the risks of being overly sappy on this site: For those who are ready to attack my apology: my genitalia are larger than yours.
