Our top story tonight: Helltown's Idle Hands double IPA is still delicious.

Haven't seen this in the thread yet. New Fat Head's brew...or is it a re-name of Angels for ALS from last year?

    INSPIRATION-ALE for ALS
Brewed with a special hop blend of Mosaic, Equinox, five experimental hops & dry-hopped with the ALS Hop Blend & Citra. Displays peaks of citrus, tropical fruit and pine with a spicy, floral aroma. $1 from each pint will go towards ALS research. Great beer! Great Cause! 7.4% ABV

Exactly. Plus everybody that gets so uppity about everything can get themselves some feminine products while they get their cheap beer. It's a total win/win.

in short, no. The choices are horrible south of city. GE Robinson is your best bet. GE in Washington and Peters are horrible. They still have bombers of last summer's Port IPA collecting dust (by way of example)

I wouldn't knock Giant Eagle. Randy at GE Shadyside is probably one of the most knowledgeable people in Pittsburgh regarding beer. I don't feel bad about going there for beer; if anything, GE is lucky they have someone so 'geeky' about beer. If he could go through other avenues, like other beer merchants, I'm sure we would see Russian River, Bruery, and Cigar City sitting on the shelves at GE.

The singles option is nice at Atlas I think. The sixer-or-bust rule at GE is kinda BS.

I think a lot of it has to do with the fact of a bunch of people out there still not being necessarily familar or educated on craft beer. Its kind of like a motion to apply their product to a market of people who go to see a movie and say "oh yea, those dogfishermens, ive heard they're good n fancy, why not try it". And because it is attached to a movie theatre they can jack it up some extra $. And who knows, maybe a place like atlas is a stepping stone to getting the type of attention/distrobution that does happen in Philly. I'll still spend the majority of my small earnings at Giant Eagle, but if I see a rifftrax of The Patriot on a sunday afternoon, chances are I'll be glad atlas is there.

This isnt directed at anyone, just in reference to the topic. And really not trying to rake up old muck or get in the middle of anything. But is there an expectation/ obligation to trade via this forum? I obviously have nothing against it. But Im kind of a poor when it comes to bottles other people may not have access to at giant eagle shadyside... I kinda just get one and drink it myself or with woman. :slight_frown:

Certainly not. Trading is expensive, often times underwhelming, and there is always a chance you will be left twisting in the wind for a couple of months on a trade by somebody with unquestionably high character.

If what you get at GE puts lead in your pencil stick with it.

I live way outside the city so Greensburg shop n save and GE in Irwin are my go to places. It's closer and cheaper for me hit these spots then go to the "house" and spend way more.

Sometimes it's ok to let the trolls be trolls no matter what their ill informed intentions are. Why do people get branded "upity" if they want the bottle shops to be better?

@shuggy Would you still rate Hopslam and Lagunitas Sucks as high if you rated them today? I agreed with you on a few of your ratings and those are two of my staple beers (even though Hopslam was kinda meh this year). Just curious.

At least at GE Shadyside pretty sure you can buy singles and don't have to buy a whole sixer of singles
