Now I see the criteria, I still disagree with the move though, but I also disagree with many of the things being classified as "threadshitting" as well. I believe in open communication as much as possible. I also believe many people who don't fit the criteria probably have worthwhile things to add. Finally, it creates an inclusive community that scares away new people who might end up being worthwhile members in time.I started in ISO threads before I found a place here, before feedback system.

 

I agree that 90+?% of my trades were done prior to finding SWTFYW and LOCALS. However the ISO:FT section became a true cesspool of people trying to win trades, hype their beers, etc. perhaps more like 10-20% should be allowed to post but I'm all for restructuring the current ISO:FT boards.

 

Gotta head to work. But one request. Baby bird me some of that hot sauce?!

 

I have tons more peppers coming. Maybe I'll split my next batch into wee bottles and start sending it as extras...

BTW, here is the finished product. Just needs to sit in the fridge for 2 weeks to mature.

 

Really surprised at the number of people who don't meet these criteria. As long as enough BAers can still post and give meaningful feedback, I don't see a problem. As others have noted, the ISO:FT forum had become a mess anyway, so a shakeup was needed.

Fair enough. I tend to think of people become worthwhile they will get there or be noticed. Think of the community we have here. Locals and swtfyw. We all tend to stay in here because of constructive comments and the fact we are all aware of others. Doesn't happen in ISO/ft

Lasted longer or is still on sale in San Diego though. I'm sure the LA store didn't get nearly as much stock.

I have never posted an ISO and have probably replied privately to less than five, but my gut feeling is that using post count as one of the criteria for who can reply is fair. Because the assumption is that people with lots of posts probably are, for the most part, valuable contributors (I think there is a decent amount of self policing, and a troll will wear put his welcome). Assuming you can't police things by the content of the reply, and also assuming that you need some type of restrictions, what you guys are using is a pretty good benchmark.

 

I like the idea, but the criteria does not guarantee a good result. Also takes some good folks out that should be able to, but had to start somewhere. The key is in taking away privileges when someone replies inappropriately. Just because they trade a lot and post a lot, doesn't make them responsible. Anyway, it's a start.

Now, how do we stop the madness of those trying to trade a $20 beer for $200.
