I love BA barleywines and so was looking forward to Clown Shoes Pierre Ferrand Billionaire (which took forever to hit CA), but that stuff tasted pretty foul to me...unfortunate, because I've really liked some other CS offerings. Got another one at the same time, so maybe that'll develop into something more drinkable...not getting my hopes up again though.

Agreed. I saw Lunch on a shelf the other day and skipped it in favor of RuinTen. Don't get me wrong, it's a very good beer, but at that cost for a 16.9oz bottle, it's not worth that. I also had Dinner at the ACBF last year, and then a friend of mine was up at the last release and got a case. He split one with me that weekend. Also very good, but not worth the trouble to get it.
I would rather drive 20 minutes to Trillium and get just as good beers for way lest trouble, and less $$ per oz.

I don't work hard at getting beer, but I used to. It all stopped when i t became commonplace for beer stores to break down 4 packs to sell singles at a higher profit margin.

Black Note I found somewhat disappointing

Stella Artios. So much hype, to me tasted like it was spoiled.

This year's KBS was a real let down for me. It just didn't have the depth of flavor and missed on the mouthfeel too as compared to what I remember from previous years.

Parabola, way too sweet for me...drain poured 1/2 the bottle.

Ann. While it was still great, it wasnt worth the price of admission.

Beer Geek Speedway was a let down for me, thought I was going to love it and did not.

I heard this from multiple people who were so disappointed considering what they traded for it.

    • Evil Twin Imperial Biscotti Break - was simply too sweet, like most Evil Twin beers I've tried. That and they're relatively expensive.
    • Firestone Velvet Merkin - the smell was great, but the taste underwhelming. I love Firestone's other BA offerings but this one I'd have to say is the weakest of the group I've tried.

Heady Topper...didn't do it for me. It's a great beer but not worth the hype.

As I'm sure you know, it must be super fresh to be worth the headache however you are right....the craft beer explosion has offered so many other comparable or better DIPA's. I respect it as a game changer...I feel the same about a lot of the HF hoppy stuff. Just isn't keeping up with breweries like Trillium, Treehouse, TiredHands, Lawson's, Toppling Goliath, NEBCO, just to name a few.

I heard CD11 was heavenly. Sadly I missed out on that one, even though I put up a pretty strong ISO. Ended up closing for an Orviamo instead!

Thank goodness, I feel I got a very feel deal for it too. Which was nice. You know how the SP peeps hoard, this person was really cool. Love meeting those people.

I had Heady Topper for the first time in the spring at a local brewery's anniversary party. It was really good don't get me wrong, but not worth creaming my shorts over or buying cases of it to bring home.

I have a hard time getting any of those on the west coast and i believe the can was a week ad half old. i am however opened to trying it again, and intend to. I've had so many beers a second time and have found them much better the second time around

Not exactly rare and certainly not something I worked hard to obtain, but Not Your Father's Root Beer had ALL of the hype. It was too sweet for me, and it had an aftertaste that reminded me of licorice. Just wasn't for me, which sucks. I love root beer.

Big Luscious. Not extremely rare or anything, but I was really looking forward to it!

Also, the Terrapin MooHoo variants are a let down to me (but not the Wake N Bake variants)

And BA Narwhal was kind of a yawn
