I'm fed up with people being fed up. Craft beer is awesome. Drink it up. Start a thread about something being awesome.

Also, the whole I was into it before it was cool mentality will NEVER go away. I noticed this before anyone and called it out so that makes me cooler than anyone who was into it before it was cool.

So hitting on/harassing a "hot" woman is "normal social interaction" for you? I think I'd prefer they talk about hops...

I think hot women standing in a beer line would be interested in talking about beer. They do have brains, you know. And they don't always want to be sex objects, except when I'm around.

I'm fed up with breweries not releasing anything but IPA's, Barrel aged blahblahblah and Stouts. Try some other friggin styles will ya?

Sites like BA and RB are largely responsible for this. When brewers see the top 100 filled with imperial IPAs, barrel aged stouts, and sours, why would they invest time and money into a tripel or a proper English mild? Everyone wants to take a stab at the next Abyss or Heady Topper, and based on a quick glance at the "hype threads" and trade forums, who can blame them?

Take a look in the mirror (not you specifically, the BA community in general), for you are the root of this so-called problem.

Define 'overdo' so we're on the same page. I'm not sure I understand what you're talking about.

Ah...have you looked into the requirements and wait times for those schools? You have be damn near a chemist to even pass the pre-reqs for Cal Davis. BJCP has completely overhauled their system to eliminate the higher ranking judges who have a lot of book knowledge yet are poor at perception. This doesn't do much for existing high ranking judges, but is paving the way for a better crop in the future. It's an imperfect system, poor craft beer the market evenutally eliminates. Excpet for White Birch...can't figure how they're still around.

Sounds like school. Basic understanding of cleaning/sanitizing/fermentation temp control will eliminate 99% of flaws. If homebrewers can do it the pro's should have no problems.

Exactly what would classic beers have to do with a brewery that wants to make American-centric beers provide? It's not like you're going to transition a Belgian Blond or English Mild well into the USA craft scene.

I kinda get fed up with peoples expectations for collaborations and the fact they are imposed on the breweries who are producing them. Just because multiple breweries are involved does not mean the beer is going to be exponentially better. Treat it like any other beer and use common sense going into it. Judge the beer on its own merits and not based on what you feel two breweries collaborating should be making. Chances are the brewers intentions for the beer are not inline with your expectations and I am not sure that is the breweries problem to deal with.

It really seems that some people like to complain about beer more than drinking it. There is too much beer out there for me to enjoy for it to be worth my while to even momentarily focus on beers that I don't like.

I would like to see craft brewers focusing more attention to upgrading/modernizing the flavors of their flagship brands than to seek media attention and chase ticker $$$ with one-offs, bbl flavored, and weird ingredient beer. Its really a matter of what segment of craft beer you think is sustainable - personally I don't think the trendy stuff will not last at its current growth for very long - all it takes is something new in alcoholic beverages to come along that appeals to the twentysomethings with more disposable income than sense before growth heads in the other direction.

I get the feeling that some of the larger craft breweries feel the need to do one-offs just to stay relevent with hard core beer geeks which brings media attention to their brewery name. I thought a brewery like Sierra Nevada was immune from pandering to that segment, but I guess I was wrong. $19 bottle of collaboration beer with wild yeast that needs time to reach its potential? its like I don't even know who you are anymore.....

I am not sure I follow all of that. Is this based on the local craft beer scene?

I equate collab beers to all star jams - with no practice and just a quick walk through at soundcheck. Sure its great to see you favorites playing together on stage, and it looks like they are having fun playing together, but no way is the music as tight as when any of them play with their own band.

Want to make sure I have this right, are you saying you would like to see Sierra Nevada change their Pale Ale, Anchor change Steam Beer or Bell's change Two Hearted to suit the tastes of today's customers? Is nothing sacred anymore?
