:slight_frown: wow. Ron and I have corresponded over the years and I regret the fact we never coordinated our schedules to enjoy a few beers together, although we tried. Being a long time member of this community I view it as a Fraternity and whenever we lose a fellow enthusiast, it's a tough "pint glass" to swallow. :slight_frown:

While incredibly sad, even though I never met the man it really puts a perspective on life and how we should cherish everyday and everyone as if it is our last. God speed to Ron and his entire family. If there is a time and place after this wicked existence we call life I hope Ron is drinking his favorite beer out of a straw with his feet up and looking toward the future when him and his family will reunite.

I can't say that I ever interacted with Ron but I'm sorry to hear of his passing. My most sincere condolences to his family and I hope he finds peace. My last Rare Vos will be for him, cheers.

Always sad to see one of the good ones leave us, but judging by all the responses here he left quite a legacy. I can only imagine that his impacts outside the BA realm were all the more impressive. I'm sure that the thoughts of all BA are with his family and loved ones. Cracking one open for you tonight Ron, cheers.

May he rest in peace, and may his family find that peace as well. It is always horrible when a loved one leaves us, but knowing you have a community that supports you can make a difference. I will hoist my next one in his honor, and join his celebration of life in spirit when the time comes.

We should have a "throwback" day on WBADYN in tribute. One thing I remember is the "Drinking this, watching that" nature of the posts in that thread.

    Just a thought...

I didn't know Ron, but this is just awful news, especially for his family. There's nothing really to say that hasn't already been said, so I'll just stick with a simple rest in peace Ron.

RIP Ron. Read Ron's profile and noticed he enjoyed many beers over the years . I'm glad he was able to do that and share his enjoyment for beer with many others. I will pickup some craft your own 6 pack beers and pass them out to friends and co-workers who enjoy a certain style of beer tonight. We're glad there will be a Celebration of Life for Ron with support from the craft community.

So sad. Only 55yo. Condolences to his friends & family. I always loved that Ron would just post in WBAYDN what he was drinking, and not bother with wasting the time or energy to take a picture of it and display it. (something I and most of us are guilty of). Maybe a thread of WBAYDN one day without "any" pictures would be a nice tribute to him. RIP Ron!!!

Absolute blackness...not a ruby highlight to be found. This beer just soaks up light. Head is by a firm, tight, and mostly flat-topped two fingers of dark tan foam. Hey, it's the black monolith from 2001, four years later, now in liquid form. Exquiste lacing.

Very sweet nose, with candy canes dissolving into coffee cups surrounded by licorice.

Taste is...taste is...wow.... Another sip. Another . OK, ready now. Incredibly rich from the first sip, expresso mixed with Hershey's syrup, only better, and a soft shammy wipe of hops through out the mouth. I can't do this justice.

Mouthfeel is full, rich, smooth, oily, awesome.

Drinkability is beyond dangerous, this is flat out lust.

My first beer of 2005. The year is off to a heck of a start.

Make more, Tom, a lot more. (791 characters)

Big time bummer, I always felt Ron was a good barometer for my drinking habits since we are both hop heads, but he was also open minded. He always made me smile when he said "the more bitter, the better" when someone kvetched about a beer being too hoppy. My sincerest condolences to his family.

I had a few brief interactions with Ron, mostly back when I was new to the site and mostly about beers being tapped at brewpubs around the state. Always a nice guy.

Also did not know Ron personally, but hearty condolences to his family and friends for this way too early loss...

I pass through Easton / Bethlehem area of PA / NJ on a pretty regular basis, and would be happy to drop off some local NE OH brews for the party....let me know if the family would be interested and I can put some things together!

    RIP Ron!
