After getting a chance to have Bear Republic Tartare again (yep, still good), decided to go local-ish with a beer I added (and only 1 review). Anyone want to help confirm or refute my analysis on Three Notch'd Drake Smokes 10k?

Nice rich smoked beer - barleywine? Yeah I see it a bit more 2 weeks after initial review, but still the smoke and malt balance decently well. The bitter notes add a mildly strange aspect, however. Cheers!

I didn't think I liked smoked beers until I tried the Aecht beers. All are excellent, especially the Urbock.

The Urbock is my favorite beer of 2015 so far. Absolutely stunning beer, and really reminded me how well done a smoked beer can be when it's done by the best in the business. @TongoRad

Went out to check on some ribeye's I've got dry aging in the cooler they should be all set for this weekend been there about 4 weeks now. And found a couple of these lurking on a shelf from my PA trip a couple of weeks ago.

I just saw a bunch of those at Total Wine. Since it's a seasonal I was assuming it's getting kind of old, but since you just posted it how is it drinking nowadays?

I personally prefer the Märzen. It has a way of just quickly disappearing from my glass, but they're all rather brilliant.

I know there are a lot of great newcomers to the crowded IPA space but despite all the hype, I just love this stuff. Cheers BA!

Getting towards the end of beers from @beertunes via NBS BIF#2. This is a very nice Vienna lager from a little place in Washington state that seems to excel at that kind of thing.

It's working very well on a rather humid early evening in SCMN.

The Doppelbock I just had is pretty good, my least favorite of them all though which probably has to due with the age you mentioned. Look forward to trying it again when in season.

Definitely do that come the winter. It's very nice, but it's also the least 'smoky' of their beers, not counting the helles, so maybe the malt character is starting to get a bit tired by this point. Thanks for the tip. Cheers!

Yeah, I just couldn't figure out which one was the Julien Date, LOL.

By taste I would say the Maximus was the freshest, then Sucks and the IPA.

You know, now that I look at it, though, I think that maybe the first 3 digits are the Juilen. Hmm

Going by that metric I was actually right by taste, though. Maximus 189, Sucks 152, IPA-147.

I bought the Urbock on a whim, drank it with low expectations as I assumed all smoked beers were the same, and immediately bought every other version I could find. Such fantastic beers.
