I like the way the operate. They have a friendly small town vibe and do what they can to keep local availability. 077xx isn't one of my favorites, but I prefer a little sweetness in the backbone of my double IPA's (think Resin). Some beers are better than others, but that's true anywhere. I really enjoy the Witte Whale. Heard some rumors of a possible move (in town), to increase capacity if Augie is at liberty to comment.

I'm likely at fault for that. There was zero intention to turn it into a competition with my post, rather, I thought it was interesting the OP mentioned something about Carton's business practices and that lead to my comment that I'm fascinated to see how Kane's packaging of Head High impacts the market.

On the business side of breweries, I think it's absolutely appropriate and expected to have crossover conversation of NJ places due to the varied approaches a person can take to owning, operating, expanding, etc. said business. When it comes to taste, the conversation will always veer off a cliff and never establish itself as productive.

Good luck with the move. The old ZPT building diagonally across the parking lot?

I really appreciate Augie's interaction with his customers. After the first Carton beer I had, he added me on untappd, and commented. He doesn't get all bent out of shape if you don't care for a certain style. Customer service goes a long way with me.

I want to clear up that I do like Cartons core beers and have had some great small batch ones as well. I couldn't agree with you less about Kane. Head High tastes nothing like anything from Stone. I would agree they pay attention to trends. I would also say that Carton core beers are hard to find because they are exhausting energy on other projects, but that's a guess. It's just frustrating that I can't go somewhere consistently to get their product. It's not like hype on Boat and 077XX has increased. For me, it's a bit of a pain point with this brewery.

Augie can comment but I think you couldn't be more wrong in your guess.

They aren't dedicating every ounce of tank space to O'dub and Boat, so yes he's right in that sense. But who in the world would really want that?

For me, they're an interesting brewery. I look forward to almost everyone of their releases and for the most part enjoy them. Some of their beers get a tad overrated. Boat (which I do really like) and Regular coffee are in that category for me. I appreciate them taking risks and creating beers that make you think a little.

It's nice having Carton and Kane around doing two wildly different styles of brewing.

What brewer would dedicate every oz of production capability to 2 beers. Even the largest brewers in the world do not do that. Is anyone complaining when Kane makes 15 variants of Port Omna?

Your being very extreme in your thought process. They brew a lot of experimentals. I have ABSOLUTELY noticed it's harder to get cans of Boat and 077XX around those times. A few months back they didn't even have cans of these at the brewery. So obviously, the space, time, and effort is going into something else.

wait, so is this the questionable business practice that you referred to in your first post?

The reason you can not get these beers is because Carton is packed to the rafters at all hours this time of year. They have been doing these 'experiments' from day one. Demand is WAY up for their beers.

Yeah, very questionable. I find it questionable that Kane has taken this long to can. :stuck_out_tongue::grinning::rolling_eyes:

I've been there many times. Maybe on a weekend day but it's not THAT packed. Listen, we can not agree I'm ok with that.
