I hinted at it but, the relationship wasn't the issue. Not gonna keep going over it though, I think we've all moved on.

@augiecarton any chance for shipwreck again this year? And just a comment on the build relationships with local stores. There are two stores that I frequent but are large chains that get your beer. It's difficult to build a relationship with anyone there when I see a different person each time I go, and also difficult to believe they are out or didn't get any of your beers when I can clearly see it in the cooler in the back.

    I feel you here.

I have been trying to foster a relationship(s) at my locals Wegman's supermarket but every time I go there I see different faces. I would be helpful if there was a 'dedicated' beer manager that always worked there but....

    Cheers!

Got 0077xx in a trade. It ranked last in a 5 IPA blind taste test. I thought it was solid but nothing that's gonna keep me wanting more.

Speaking of on a different level, have you seen this, or listened to this yet? When's the last time you heard a brewer think like that?

shipwreck is in the barrels, once we select the ones we like, and blend them back together we will know if we will be releasing a 2015, but based on the samplings so far i feel good about it.
rather than ramble here about being a "regular" here are a whole bunch of musings on it from my old blog days in '05/6, skip the jean George one its more about food than regular-ness. http://augieland.blogs.com/augie_land/become_a_regular/

I have listened to a few episodes of STB and it's clear Augie's thinking about beer on a different level than most people. Those have been a treat.

It's so refreshing to hear those words coming from a craft brewer.
Many of the ones I've met and spoken with in my travels over the last 30 years are not nearly so humble.

So I am traveling up the New Jersey TPke Saturday. I have tried everything in terms of northeast hops but could never find Carton I've called some of the Retail stores and as others mentioned I feel like I am bothering them asking for the beer. Needless to say I struck out does anyone know anywhere I can get cans within 30 miles of the NJ TPke?

Thanks Augie!!! I look forward to it definitely was thinking of filling my growlers but wanted cans to share with my buddies and needed a reason to have the wife stray 30 minutes off course.

People have said it a few times, and I have said it myself before. What I love about Carton is how Augie and everyone else there looks at beer so differently than anyone else. I have not loved every beer they have released, but overall their experimental stuff is fun and interesting and usually much better than average. Gilded Lily and Epitome were both mind-blowing for me this past year. I like 077XX, but prefer Head High, but who cares? They should not be in competition- they are not the same at all.

I have a question about dating the cans. I know breweries (such as other half) date their cans when they bring in a mobile service. I am pretty sure they use a different company, but does Iron Heart (i think thats the company) not provide that option? Knowing how quickly your beers typically go- I am not worried about them not being fresh, but I wish every brewery would date their beers.

I am from Ohio, but travel to NJ often (yes, a woman is involved! She is worth the 7 hr drive!), and have had the good fortune to try Boat and 077 brews, and visited the brewery a few months ago; the tour was great, the samples were nice (and affordable!), taproom area fun and full of interesting people...what's not to like? I understand Augie's beers are getting harder to find in NJ - I used to see Boat in one particular beer store I frequent fairly regularly until this year - now, not so much....having demand for your product exceed your current supply is not a bad problem to have!

Bottom line, I am a fan (albeit an out of state one!), and think they are doing good things!!

Hey, I am a sailor, literally, so how can you NOT love a beer named BOAT??
