NBO: Summer 15 Newbie BIF

    I haven't seen a BIF round started up with newbies in mind in quite some time.

    The invite list: This is open to everyone with at least 5 trades and 100% trade feedback, no need to have ever done a BIF in the past. Anyone with less than 5 trades or with less than 100% feedback is welcome to join with a veteran sponsor. Veterans are also encouraged to participate, and to help mentor new BIFers.

    The requirements: 144oz of 85+ Rated beer, or 4.1+ rAvg if there are too few scores for a rating. Beer must be from outside your target's distribution. Extras and swag are encouraged but not required.

    The timeline: I'm going to lock down participation when we get to 30 total participants or on August 15th, whichever comes first. I will get targets out (hopefully) within a week after that point. Shipping window is currently planned for the month of September; any BIF newbies will be expected to ship by September 15th, veterans are permitted to ship up to September 30th.

    Will newbies required to provide their own sponsor? Or are you personally going to sponsor all newbies in case of issues?

    Newbies can provide their own sponsor, or veterans (participants or otherwise) can volunteer. I may or may not choose to sponsor a newbie, but am not by default anyone's sponsor.

    Just talked to @Doogflaggat (Andy, who came along with me to the Locals BS 1.0) and he should be interested, been looking for a way to ease into the BIF world for a little while now.

    @Rion It's pretty simple. You get assigned a target. You stalk your target on BA, untappd etc to assess their wants. You start filling a box with beer and swag. Post vague hints on who you are sending said box to. Overfill the box with extras (i.e. Impress these Mo Fo's) When the shipping window arrives, seal the box full of goodness and bomb the crap out of their porch. Post the PrOnz, give credit to and thank your sender.
    The only problem is that you end up joining another BIF and another. Then people just start randomly sending you beer because you looked at them funny or you said that you could shotgun at 32oz crowler. @vitaminvert could someone re-post the video? Cheers

    @BadEnoughDude won't see that tag since he is not Verified, you might want to reach out separately.

    Would you guys be open to splitting your box? I don't know if it will "mess everything up" but I'd prefer to only include those that have their own BA account (which also can be easily made, he'd just need a sponsor).

    If the trade request is not requested it's easy to remove. If it's already accepted then if neither of you leave feedback after 90 days it disappears on its own.

    Great question that it looks like @valrxman has pretty well already answered, I'm sure I'll type up something considerably more long-winded as sign-ups are closing.







    I love how many of you guys are tagging in folks you'd like to see participate, I'd like to see you guys all jump in too to help show these new guys how it's done, but at the very least I'm happy and thankful for the swell in participation!
