While I agree that it makes a trip to TH more enjoyable to be able to get higher limits (it's an hour+ drive for me), I also love to see them trying to spread the inventory over several days as opposed to selling out as quickly as possible.

I would much rather see consistent/predictable stock and lower limits than having higher limits and needing to be able to drive over on a moments notice when something I really want comes on.

If stock levels stay constant, I think the crowds will eventually even out as well, with fewer overwhelmingly busy openings. It could also make additional open days/hours possible.

I saw this at the bottom of the website:

Julius to be tapped for growlers when one of the above kicks. More to come, too. . .

So if they release something else in cans then it's 12 cans per person (six Julius and six something else). And they do still fill growlers right? But lets say it's only 6 cans of Julius on Thursday and Friday, and there is a bunch left for Saturday. Maybe they kick up the limit to 12 cans for Saturday. That seems fair for all of those who can only visit on Saturdays. Treehouse is saving it's largest daily limit on cans for Saturday. Lots of people will like the idea of the largest can limits on Saturday as opposed to Thursday.

I can tell you for a fact that Chewy does not hoard. In fact, he is probably one of the most generous guys out there in sharing with other friends who might not have been able to make the trip as I am aware.

This was my exact thought when I saw the update. I'm still driving the 90 minutes this afternoon, but I would have loved to get more than 6 cans. I'm not a hoarder- I'm someone who doesn't want to spend $25 on gas for the opportunity to buy only $25 of cans.

if I can get 12 can of Julius on Saturday then I might make the trip out. As others have mentioned it's a hike for me coming from Boston and I want to make sure I can get a decent amount of beer. I also need to try Green as well.

I've never seen them up limits as the days pass. Usually as the stock goes down, so do the limits. Best case, the limits will stay the same.

If they release other cans, it will also draw more people in (and you'll be able to get more than 6 cans overall, at least). They will have no problem going through most of that Julius over the three days.

Do they plan to transition to more canning and less growler filling?

For instance, they have ten bbls of C20, but it's all for growler fills. That sounds like it would make for plenty of cans. And TWSS, couldn't the entire batch be canned? That beer should stay fresh for a decent bit of time in cans.

I know there are plenty of things I haven't considered, like cost of/access to aluminum cans, speed/efficiency of the canning line, etc.

    Just wondering. Anyone know anything?

RE: can limits. They are low - it sucks, I agree. This week we decided to give folks making the trip on Saturday a crack at cans. If we were packaging cans again this week the Julius limit would be higher.

They could be experimenting here - trying to optimize the can limit with the intent of maximizing total three day sales. Last time the limit was 12 cans for Julius right? And they tracked how much was sold each day. They will compare that with the daily sales results with a six can limit. How fast do they sell out with the lower limit. Is there any left after the close on Saturday if the 6 can limit is not adjusted?

Thanks for the info Nate. I am planning to make the trip out tomorrow even with the low can limit, I am just hoping curiosity is still on at open on Friday, as it appears Green and Haze will probably kick today.

    No other cans this week.

99.9% chance C20 is on at open Friday...

I won't get into a message board argument over hoarding, how each person values their time, etc...we are all entitled to our opinions. I shared mine, a few agreed, a few disagreed....my voice was heard and as typical of Tree House, Nate provided some insight into their process and decision making (even though he doesn't have to -- thanks Nate!)

The silver lining here is that plenty of people should have the opportunity to try this amazing beer !

If anyone in Boston is going up for Julius cans and wants to swap 1 for either a can of Haze or a can of Green from last week's release let me know! I've yet to try Julius and would love to after enjoying Haze and Green immensely.

I'm on the fence right now if I'm going in today. Leaning towards making the trip. But if I do I'll be down for a Julius for green swap. I'm in Medford but work in Boston.

What time do people usually line up on Saturdays? Planning on going over, but dont want to be the 100th person in line.

I was something like 20th about 2 months ago on a day when they had lights on/C16 in cans and double shot/julius/eureka/LO for growlers. I -should- be there Saturday on the way to Boston around the same time.

I think the lower can limit is a blessing in disguise for everyone - knowing that cans very well should last til Saturday might ease the crazy Thursday night crowd. I know that I am now waiting til Saturday afternoon to head up and should have a shot at getting cans along with growlers.

If it were a limit of 12 I would be heading up tonight, fighting the mayhem that is Thursday night at Tree House...

not if you're going to complain about limits as if you're being forced to go.
