Pretty crazy, but also expected. I remember hearing the rumor last year that they were moving to 16.9 oz bottles. I didn't believe it, but here to we are. The BCBS line was always priced so damn well, I feel they won't make any egregious pricing mishaps... but we shall see. Still excited for the Rare/Rye!

New bottles blow so hard...just another way to jack the price per ounce and they're ugly.

Plus shouldn't this lead us to believe there would be a decrease in pricing for the variant and prop due to them going from 22oz down to 16.9oz? (which would be cool but unlikely I'm sure...) You guys are seriously out of your minds with some of the pricing speculation in this thread! Unless we're talking gouged pricing...

the old bottles and label design was perhaps my favorite of all the craft beers out there. it was so classy and distinctive. why did they go and mess with such a good thing?

As someone who works in packaging design, these are awful... looks like a college re-branding project. Not an idea that should ever see the light of day. yeesh.

Goose pulled beer from about 4,500 bourbon casks this year — up from about 4,000 last year.

this was in the section just talking about the regular.

My feelings exactly. BCBS might have been my favorite label out there. This looks generic (generically English) and dumb.

If they came out like this, I'd be impressed. It looks like this is what they were going for but fell WAYYYY short.

As long as whats inside the bottle is good, who cares what the actual bottle looks like lol

Nationwide = Rare? I guess they are into sarcasm now.

It's a hard knock life, I know, but I'm just bummed to lose one of the great small format BA stouts/barleywines out there. And, though I know this would never happen, I'd have preferred a move to 10oz bottles, as I think 12's are even a bit much for such huge beer. Anyway, GI is entitled to do whatever they like, and I guarantee it won't hurt sales a bit. Just sad to see the day come a bit.

Lolz! The new bottles are a fail but they just want to raise the price per oz (most importantly), prevent hoarding and get it to more people (which is a good thing, depending on who you ask)...and I think they will definitely achieve all three with the new format, like it or not.

Agreed, and if this means we actually see barleywine and coffee in NE (not to mention rare 2.0, we got the original rare and use to get BW and BCBCS) when we haven't seen them since national distro started then I'm not completely against it.

I like the new bottles. The design, not the size.

So glad I don't have scam artists running the bottle shops I go to. It's a damn shame that people actually pay those jacked up prices.

I don't get the hate on the new packaging. Honestly, the look is the one thing I like about it. I hate the size and I hate the fact that it looks potentially ripe for scamming.
