Not sure any anger, just calling it how we see it...utterly ridiculous. As you state, there's so much other greatness going on next weekend (in my opinion fuxing with Dexter's would be silly).

I can say in confidence that it is not Dexter's doing.

@Yohann $30 is too much? 12 oz bottles are going for around a grand. If they sold it for $100 a bomber, I would still buy cases. Sorry not sorry.

By my math, roughly 5 gallons in a 6th. Would come out to roughly 160 pours, or 40 people getting max tickets. Is this math right? If so that's dumb or they have like 10 barrels

I can confirm what pawpaw said - the price on the SR-71 is directly related to what Dexters had to pay for the barrel.

Well that comes out to ~$2500. Unless your correlation is a normal markup of some large %?

Can't wait to flip a few SR-71 tickets next Friday. This is definitely in the spirit of the weekend, right?

You're right – if they're aiming for the "beer collectible" aftermarket as their new primary audience, then $30 is a bargain. I'm just not one of those people.

Well crap, I don't think I'll be able to get the SR-71. Not planning to get into Madison until 4-5PM or so. That's unfortunate :slight_frown:

Other beers to be had though, so I'll live.

I'm sure someone would love to sell you a ticket for $50 once you get there.

Wonder if I could convince a drunk scalper to take a Monopoly $50

Edit: in the spirit of accuracy, bottles were actually $25 each at the brewery

Wait, so there is actually a concern that $20 tickets for a 5 oz pour with a glass of some sort will actually sell out quickly for one beer (among hundreds being poured Friday and Saturday) that would maybe be in the top 25th percentile of 'top' beers overall being served around Madison?

One of the bar tenders is a personal friend, so that may be why we got quick pours, however, I also remember paying for those beers 15 minutes before it was tapped and told my bartender that when it taps to bring me a glass. Maybe that's a good trick for timed tappings?

Oh, and I better see you at the FFG Pre-party:

For a chance to try a highly sought after beer without giving up half of your cellar? Yeah, probably.

Hey man, I hope I'm wrong... lol. I think the way they set it up though is just begging for a line to form early. Buy your ticket, have a pour of MD and then go about your day. Come back at your leisure to get your SR-71....

Quickly? I doubt it. By mid/late afternoon? Absolutely.

There are only like 130-135 5oz pours in a 1/6 barrel. Between the Whalezbro Conglomerate, scalpers, and generally interested folks who are willing to drop $20 on something they'd never get to try otherwise... Yeah, I don't think they'll have problems selling tickets.

Dexter's clearly doesn't either, or they wouldn't have spent that sort of cheddar on the keg.

Hm...if only there was another event that weekend that offered a similar chance... :grinning:

"last 1/6 keg of SR-71" to me implies that there won't be any at the festival. I could be wrong though.
