8:20 should be first in line. Have a feeling there might be a few arriving earlier just to share? Just my though.

Just knock that ahead four hours and it is more realistic for this one.

Coming from someone who has made ALL R&D releases, you will be fine by showing up at 7am, and I'd highly recommend it for Friday and Saturday for this release if you plan on going.

Absolutely not. Before 7 is way overkill.

So they say but there will be folks there before the sunshine breaks over the trees and moon has yet to settle....

Yeah people said that for Peach and for Vintage too, but lo and behold, people were way more than fine by 9 and later. I get that this is bourbon barreled and fruited, but the ONLY day I would endorse getting there at 7 or earlier is Saturday. I've been to the past five R&Ds. Yes, there will be people there very early, but they'll be the minority. The point is that it's people will probably be fine getting there at 9 or later, especially the first two days.

It's only when people with comments and mentalities like yours that these things get absurd. Just be reasonable and go after 7. I wish NG would forbid people from showing up before a certain time.

Edit: Please don't think I'm being a dick though. I don't mean it confrontationally, it's just that I think it's best for everyone to be able to wake up at a reasonable hour and get there in good time, not have a long wait in line, and just have an overall better, smoother experience. I GET the fear of missing out on the beer, but when everyone starts to think like that, the necessary arrival time becomes earlier and earlier for EVERYONE.

I don't really mess around any more since my friend's procrastination almost led to us getting shut out on Friday for the peach when we showed up at like... 9:10. These great taste releases get stupid because of the amount of beer geeks ascending down on Madison. I still won't be showing up before 7am though.

To be fair, if I'm going to wake up early and go to a brewery I'd pick New Glarus just about every time. I never get sick of their outdoor space.

Wild peach ran out early Friday because of all the double dippers. Saturday wasn't sold out until probably 10 because the handed out tickets later and made everyone form a line

I plan on showing up Thursday and Friday at 9:30 and be in and out within 10 minutes just like the previous releases I have been too. As long as they don't allow everyone to go through the lines multiple times I have no concerns of them selling out that early.

Its legal in IL to have both at the same time. My wife and I have both and have been getting new ones for the past 30 years without a problem. When we travel over seas and know we wont be driving we bring our ID and leave our DLs at home.

Anyone plan to be there Saturday morning bringing something to share? Me and a buddy will be coming up from Iowa. Currently thinking about bringing something De Garde (either Blu Bu or Equinox Hose), maybe a bottle of HF, King Sue, possibly something from FW (either Parabola, Stickee Monkee, or Sucaba). Might bring something local as well. Have never been to an R&D release but very much so looking forward to it. Is there a protocol for the share or basically just a free for all?

It's extremely laid back, but it's not a free for all. I would guess that less than half the crowd is actually drinking in line, probably significantly less than that even. Getting drunk, leaving bottles behind or making any other mess would not be advised. There's no tables or reserved place but if you want to share, crack a bottle and share with whomever you choose.

Thanks. I guess when I said free-for-all I didn't mean that everyone could try every bottle. I just meant, is it ok to bring bottles and share with other like minded people. Of course we will be respectful and not leave trash behind. Thanks for letting me know, just trying to get an idea of what to expect and you gave me a great idea. Cheers!

I was in the front 3rd of the line for the Vintage release and I'd say 70-80% of people were drinking their own or bottle sharing on Saturday.

I for one always bottle share at these events. I especially love New Glarus events because everyone is so genuinely nice. Great beer, beautiful surroundings, not at work, nothing better.

    4 days!
