    Vacations are great, but it's also great to be back home with my boys.
    Picked up a few different beers I can't get here in NY.
    Having a Newburyport Brewing Co. Green Head IPA.

    "The Beer That Bites You Back" indeed, just like Butters, the kitty that bites you.

    Stepped outside to see what a blue moon was and it was basically bright as fuck. If you lock on to it for a little you can see blue waves around the thing.(eyes only not cell phone camera)

    Awesome family night. Broke out the 2nd Woot in 2 nights, nobody liked it except my wife, but no less, I end my night with a good glass of beer and a equally great tune. Cheers!

    Awesome. That is my hometown brew. And since its a small hometown, I am always partial to hearing what others think. I am personally shocked that Newburyport has a brewery, much less have one that puts out such a solid IPA.

    A new barleywine for me that I picked up on impulse! Kinda surprised this isn't more heralded.

    My review... if anyone's curious.

    look: 4 | smell: 4.75 | taste: 4.5 | feel: 4.5 | overall: 4.5

    Served cellar temperature in my snifter. 2012 vintage... oooooooohhh.

    No foam, really. Just a fizzling, fleeting sheet of tan that disappears almost instantly and completely. But the color. Oh, the color! It is a beautifully deep, brackish, crimson-purple that ominously glints a bit from the depths of my full snifter.

    An awesome aroma arises. Incredibly tempting dark fruit complexity mingles with caramel, cinnamon (!), and chocolate. The fruity aspect has this yeasty, vinous note that reminds me a bit of Belgian ales. Specific fruits I can pick out range from raisins to ripe red apple, to even strawberries.

    Raisins, cherries, and red apples come through in the flavor initially, followed by some leathury earth and an herbal bitterness that reminds me a little of apple peel. Some boozy heat is noticeable, with toasted caramel and nuttiness lingering in the finish.

    The body here is full, with surprisingly high carbonation for a three-year-old barleywine.

    A distinctive an intense barleywine. REALLY love that cinnamon I detect in the aroma. I find it fabulous.
