Maybe it's that dude from El Cajon Brewing Company and Barrel Harbor.

Hmmm, I don't like him because his beard is too dark a color. =P

Schmidt seems to bounce around between breweries a lot. I'm not sold on that replacement at all.

So tension that they needed product on the tap, I'm guessing there's going to be a lot of non-sours in the future just to get those lines moving and have more product. Seems silly to expect massive turn around with going all sours. Look at Phantom Carriage. It took them a long time to even move away from non-flute tasters.

Wow if Toolbox had someone in mind before it came to this or if it was more of a panic hire. Will be interesting as Toolbox was place I'd visit and really enjoyed. It's probably 2 years since I was at BB.

According to their instagram, everything we were expecting soon isn't happening. Boo hiss...I wonder what happened there. I guess we won't be seeing anything from toolbox for a little while...

Does this mean there's literally no toolbox beer right now? lol

The wording on the Instagram post is really weird.

"In regards to previously posted upcoming releases, unfortunately due to quality control issues those beers have either been postponed or removed. Rest assured we are working hard on getting our fermenters filled with an exciting and diverse new selection of wild beers."

I know nothing about the new head brewer, other than the article posted above. Although I do find it a tad bit funny they got rid of Peter for a more experienced head brewer, yet the two breweries he was head brewer at before have two unrated wilds between them.

I wish there was a video of what really went down. Seems like there's a really good story and maybe fight. Hoping Toolbox keeps the momentum building because I really like the place and Spencer is a great guy to talk to when your in there.

    Total speculation...

The IG post makes it sound like Peter doesn't want them selling whatever he left them with, and it sounds like he may have some legal recourse to stop them from selling it.

Also, announcing a new head brewer and not actually naming him (I say him because that's the pronoun they used) in the IG post is really strange to me.

That's how I took it as well. They'll keep "postponing" until they just say they can't release them.

    WHERE'S MY FUCKING PURPLE DRANK!?!?!?

I'm going to wreck some shit, man! Yeah, it sounds like some dramallama shit is happening in the background. I do like how the IG post just shows how much bad blood there is there and to further taint Peter's name, they state the cause of the delay is quality control.

Grass Fed Lettuce will be on tap soon; Purple Drink is currently being reproduced; and Planet of the Apricots is currently being reevaluated. Thank you for your opinions and concern. We look forward to continuing to produce our great wild sours as well as other new wild creations! Cheers!

I'd be fairly surprised if Peter had legal recourse to prevent Toolbox from releasing a beer that he produced while he was employed by them. The only way that seems plausible is if his employment contract stated as such and it would be baffling for Toolbox to allow that sort of provision when they know that the product takes time to mature - agreeing to trash any barreled beer the minute he left would be flushing money down the toilet.

It seems more likely that there's an issue with the beers themselves, and it may or may not have anything to do with Peter's departure. Maybe lab results came back with evidence of an unintentional Pedio or Acetobacter infection or something.

That's pretty nuts, I was at Toolbox Sunday. I hadn't been in a few months and I noticed they expanded, the whole left of the tasting room was full of barrels. I picked up my Berry Bewitching (which was pretty tasty btw) and asked about vintage bottles. The guy in the tasting room said they sold Handful of Peter, Grass Fed Lettuce, and Virgin Sour Cherry earlier. I was bummed I missed em. Handful of Peter is still the best beer they made.

I guess before I started rambling my point was that the draft board was pretty sparse... I want to say about 8 beers on? Which is a far cry from the 15 or so they have always had on on my previous visits.
