Does anything "fall off" quite as hard or quickly as a Black IPA?

I hadn't had any black IPA more than once until Bell's Uranus. I had it for the first time a couple months ago when it was a week or so after its bottling date. I wanted to wait a month to drink the next bottle to see how it changed, but it wound up being two months. Drinking it now, I'm shocked just at how much this beer has changed in just two months. The hop profile seems to have changed dramatically, and the roasted malts are a lot more pronounced. This is still an excellent beer (hence me putting quotes around "fall off" in the title), but how can a beer change so much so quickly? Note that it was in my fridge the whole time with no change in temperature.

And cue the oh-so witty Uranus jokes.

Is it because of the darker roast of the malts, maybe?

Sorry to hear Uranus fell off. Glad I got me some before it was too late

Black IPAs are never very good to start - I've never had a good Black IPA period, but they do get unbearable very quickly. I think people have this messed up perception that they can last longer because they're dark.

They don't last longer, but an old Black IPA / CDA is WAY better than an old IPA.

I think it's hoppy beers in general.
I have had many dark / black IPAs, and I don't think they necessarily fall off faster than regular ones. I have found that some will stay good for a long time, like Heady Topper, and others fall off very fast, like Pliny the Elder.
I don't have names offhand of the Black IPAs that last better than others, though.

I agree. The first Uranus I had, it was nicely hoppy with some roasty malts. Just a week later, the hoppiness was almost gone. Still good, but very different

Is there any reason the OP isn't "Does anything "fall off" quite as hard or quickly as a Bell's Uranus?" since the first thing stated is "I hadn't had any black IPA more than once until Bell's Uranus..."

Pretty ridiculous to extrapolate one guy's experience with literally 2 bottles of 1 (new, one-off) brew, drank 2 months apart, and make sweeping statements about a style with dozens of examples and thousands of cases produced. I mean this in good fun, but your experience is hardly statistically significant.
