It still comes down to this; try it, if you don't like it don't get it. Don't dismiss it out right because of where they said it was brewed.

What it "comes down to" are business practices by Alpine/GF that are passive aggressive at best, outright disdainful of customers at worst. Both breweries could learn a lot from the transparency and candor of Modern Times and Sixpoint, both of whom actively participate on BA and actively respond to customer input, both in writing and in business practices. I can already predict snickers from several of you, but a lot of this comes down to personal character. Some people (and businesses) are cut out for admitting they're wrong, apologizing, changing behaviors and processes. Others aren't.

Yeah, if you want to just chalk it up to haters hating, than your business model is flawed from the get go. Eventually GF is going to run Alpine's name to the ground enough that no one will want to buy bottles or growler fills unless that * comes back indicating who brewed it.

That or GF will magically figure it all out and this thread topic will be a dark chapter in the Alpine history book.

Went to the pub on Sunday... Odin's Raven was the best they had on tap yesterday. I remember it being good, but it was really tasty yesterday. Food was great and pretty big in quantity.

However... the Nelson and Pure Hoppiness were both let downs. Pure Hoppiness tasted a bit old and didn't have the bite it normally has. Nelson... oh, Nelson. The color was a light yellow (with no signature cloudiness) and the body was also extremely thin. It had some solid notes of pineapple & citrus that you would normally get in Nelson but the flavor faded so quickly I couldn't even appreciate it. I was really bummed about that.

Nelson isn't always cloudy. People are really trying to pick that damn beer apart more than just drinking it and enjoying it these days. Here is a picture I took a long time ago (way before GF was on the radar). Ordered 3 Nelsons at a bar. They poured them all in a row. And no, it wasn't the bottom of the keg. We drank a lot of them there that day.

Out of genuine curiosity and ignorance, how is this possible?

Went to the new pub this past weekend. While the new pub is super nice and really boost them up to a legitimate gastropub, I couldn't help to be sad and miss the old place. It was small and cozy, had the real mom and pop feel that reminded you that you were in Alpine. Now its all fancy schmancy. They even took the damn brewer's plate off the menu since it wasn't "high quality". Even at the brewery it was different. Couple young guys I had never seen blasting gangster rap. I miss Steve making me feel like I was bothering him asking for bottles...

All of the Nelson's I have ever had at Alpine looked like the one on the right. The first beer in that pic looks like Duet.

I don't doubt it though ... Alpine was always one of the most inconsistent breweries I have ever been to, long before Green Flash got involved. When they were good they were great, but Alpine had many, many off batches. That is sort of what makes this thread so amusing. There are plenty of old threads on here of people complaining about the quality of pre-GF Alpine beer.

Went back and researched that pic I took (yay untappd!). Turns out the keg did blow two pours later. And those last two pours were clear.

Anyway, point is, you can't judge a Nelson by it's cover.

What it really really comes down to is Pat selling out with no regard to the reputation that he built for his brewery. He could have kept it in the family and built something really special with Alpine. But instead, we have the sh*t show of today. Way to think it through Pat! Thanks for the great brews though!

Why are people talking about Steve like he's not here in the room?

I'm guessing that some people don't pay very close attention.

Does not look like they are covering anything, they are just place holders where they write the names of the beers on them. Look closely at all of the other beer names, abv#s, etc.... all are written on what appears to be just a black piece of hard paper with maybe felt on the back and then attached to the board. It is probably a better adhesive than what I described but the idea is the same.

Exponentially Great chance that they will be revealed tomorrow.

Pretty sure they are just blank cards covering the Velcro or whatever they're using to secure the other ones.
