Yep, picked up a growler a few minutes ago. They just brewed a single batch and are about to brew a double batch so it should be on pretty regularly for the foreseeable future. Bartender said at worst they may run out for a day or two in between.

I managed to get out to Cannonball this afternoon. I enjoyed both IPAs (Mindbender and Project Alpha #4). What impressed me was the complexity of the beers. Especially Project Alpha. I guess I'm gonna have to go drink some Superpower now to compare....

Also, the Project Alpha keg kicked while I was sitting at the bar, but the bartenders said they expect to get it back on soon; like within the next few days.

Had two over the weekend and they were fantastic, really wish Upslope could make this a mainstay on the shelves but I doubt that's gonna happen.

@Mike1512 - I wish they could just make that quality in their other PA/IPAs!

Has anyone had the Cannonball Creek Black IPA? I guess it's now on tap and wanted to know your thoughts.

"Remember this old favorite?? That's right: GABF Gold-medal Winner Black 28, Black IPA is BACK ON TAP and smelling better than ever! Get excited folks, and get your butts out to our taproom to experience the intense aromas of grapefruit, orange and pine balanced by subtle notes of caramel and chocolate followed by intense, lingering roast and hop bitterness. It won't last long, so we'll see you soon!
    Cheers!" - Facebook

Probably one of those situations where they want to keep a policy of "all beers are available to go." They just price certain beers extra high to discourage it.
At least it isn't $200

Yes, it's excellent. It was on the tap wall fairly often, then it won Gold last year and as far as I recall, it's only been on once since. I could be wrong, as I have missed a few weeks at a time, a few times over the last year, but I am typically in there weekly.

I also recall before it won Gold, it was popular, but people were not pissed when it was not there. The weeks after it won, people would walk in, ask for it, find out they did not have it, and be dicks to the bartenders about it.

I honestly have no idea what the situation is at CC, but it could be an issue with the cost/availability of the ingredients. It seems awfully steep, but you'd have to imagine they did the math somewhere down the line. I've heard stories about traditional hops like cascade sometimes being tougher to order than trendier ones.
I know having medal winners have been both a blessing and a curse. At least a couple winners from CO forced breweries to make beers that weren't cost effective on a regular basis. People show up and want "that one that won at GABF!" and throw a fit when they can't have it. Pricing it high might be their way of keeping it on longer.
Anyway, I'm totally just speculating. I've never heard of a black IPA being particularly expensive to brew, but maybe there was something special about that one.

Ha, they just updated me on Facebook to say it's $30 now. Maybe they're just trying to see where I'll bite

Maybe @tylerstravis can speak more to this, but I really miss growlers out in Oregon. Feel like they were a lot cheaper out there. Bar I frequented would do fills of great beers for 12 bucks (I would get Boneyard Hop Venom every time it was on). I remember getting 64 oz of Pumpking for $14. There was even a place that did fills every Wednesday for $7.

    7 freaking dollars!

Is there anywhere in Denver that has good growler deals?

Man... I moved from Portland exactly three years ago yesterday and the growler thing became legal right after I left :slight_frown:

Out here growlers can only be filled at the place they are made (aka brewery) so that limits things A LOT.
