I know that the options here are probably very few and far between, but does anyone here know of any wedding reception venues that are BYOF, BYOB, or even both? Maybe have any personal experience with something like this? Looking for some cool and unique ideas and suggestions.

Ideally, would love to do some kind of crazy taco bar with a few Pittsburgh brewery kegs (in addition of course to the BMC beer, wine, liquor), but I realize this is probably a pipe dream. In the end, bringing my own beer is always an option, but kind of wanted to do something crafty beer wise since friends and family know it's a part of my personality.

Most of the outside barn places are like this because they don't have kitchens or bars.

Thanks, as I honestly never even thought of this, and found a few places just doing a quick search.

Got married at the James Gallery (West End). Nice space with a bunch of artwork (obviously), mix of indoor and outside space. Had a 100ish people and there was ample parking. Had it catered, Common Plea I think...and we brought in our own beer, two local kegs and a few bottles of wine. Can't recall the details, but think I recall that some caterers/spaces insist on alcohol going through them--maybe tied to who holds the liquor license. So, must of been that Common Plea and James Gallery didn't insist.

This place looks really cool. Definitely my kind of venue. Kind of wish they had a little more on their website regarding event rentals and what not, but it looks like a venue I will be contacting. Although I don't know if they could cater to 225+ people.

    Thanks for the suggestion though.

On a more beer related note, has anyone tried Jackie O's Oro Negro? The reviews are really trying to persuade me to make this drive.

Check out the Mansion at Maple Heights. Don't know your budget, but I had my wedding there and its legit. BYOB and BYOL, and the food is contracted to Big Burrito catering, so you could get Mad Mex's entire menu (in addition to the rest of their restaurant's stuff) and I could even work the job and cook the food for you. :grinning: We had cases of Alpha King, Gumballhead, and Diasy Cutter - so it was awesome to get all the pictures back and see 16oz silver pounders in everyone's hands.

There are no Crystal malts in their hoppy beers (except for the black one), so that's good.

Pretty nice website for a place that doesn't yet have a place to call their home.

I'll add this place to my list. Definitely a little more since they require you use a number of their preferred vendors, but it looks great. Ha, did you take a Chicago road trip for wedding bar?

Love Big Burrito by the way. We always get the free birthday entree that comes around every year. Hopefully we would be be able to sneak some celebratory drinks while you cook.

Looks like they were at Beers of the Burgh--anyone on here try their stuff?

No kidding: nice website, and nice cans for someone still in search of a place to brew.

Definitely looks interesting. But looking at the images of cans without even having a brewpub makes me think they may be putting the carriage in front of the horse.

    • voodoobreweryWe understand a lot of you were disappointed that you weren't able to get #boc bottles recently. We also heard from a number of you that you wanted more from the #hashtagseries in general-so we'll do our best to oblige. Available today, next up in the#hashtag series is #quadfather aged on Michigan tart cherries. Since introducing The Quadfather a few months back, this delectable Belgian Quadruple has quickly become a pub favorite. One particular cask treatment with cherries garnered rave reviews from our pub faithful so we've decided to bring it to you in bottle form. This particular cherry addition was designed to be a thoughtful and most importantly, complimentary addition to a beer already rich in dark fruit and caramel notes. $10 per 4 pack, no limits. Bottles will be available in Meadville when we open at 3. Homestead's bottles will be en route shortly, we will post when they arrive. Look for more from the #hashtag series coming soon!

Brew Gentlemen had laser etched handles, glasses, t-shirts, and mirkins like 3 years before they opened.

Went to a wedding this past weekend at Jay Verno Studio (Southside) and there were over 200 people there, so it might be better suited for your needs. It had a similar vibe (as compared to James Gallery) and they had canned beers, but I'm not sure who took care of what. Their website sucks as well, so maybe a call.

Oh yeah. Jay Verno is awesome as well. A pretty raw space too so you can customize it pretty well.

You weren't kidding about their website sucking.

Thanks though. The more suggestions the better.

I have no idea what this means but I'm intrigued:

"We believe in bringing the farmhouse mindset to the urban culture, and promise to package and pour our palatial nectar for the admirable people of Pittsburgh promptly."

If the nectar is going to be palatial, then I guess they are looking for a very large space in which to brew?
