Opposite experience for me. I tried at 10am on the dot (the ticketmaster site was counting down live), immediately chose 2 for the session I wanted, typed in the captcha, got stuck in a queue, and then a couple minutes later it said no tickets available. Tried about 5 more times, same thing. I don't care all that much because I'm confident I'll find some for face value later on

If it wasn't for comp ticket, I'd probably pass on GABF. It's gotten too big and is just a shit show drunk fest IMHO....

I'll be there Thursday night. One of the many first timers. I'll be checking that thread for tips. Looking forward to it

I will be in Denver the week before GABF. I did not know when the fest took place when I booked my trip and my main purpose is to go to the different breweries and beer bars. Have I chosen a bad time, a good time or it makes no difference?

    Never a bad time.

You'll be able to try a ton a great beers not distributed to your neck of the woods and Denver won't be such a madhouse.

You'l be good regardless. I am going to be there the weekend before for a brewery tour/bachelor party for a friend, and then flying back and then 3 days later, going back.

    Denver is always fun.

There's so much going on that week I've been tempted to come & not go to GABF just hit the events in the area.

That's not a bad choice at all. GABF is something everyone should try at least once, but you will not be lacking for awesome beer events the entire week.

I have never gone to GABF. I haven't even bothered to hit up the big events (like WTF, Rare Bear, etc.) either. I have stuck with going to the local bars with their free admission, special tapping events. That has always kept me happy.

That's what I have done every year since the first year I went to GABF for the first, and possibly last, time! And I always have a complete blast.

I'll be attending GABF for the first time and can't wait for the Thursday session. Apologies if this is a stupid question but for filling the rest of our weekend, is information about all these other random events and goings-on around town people keep referencing aggregated in one place?

The GABF website will have some of the events listed under the "week events" tab, and there are a few other sites and a Google calendar that usually pop up as it gets closer to GABF that will have most of them listed in one spot

As much as I like beer, I haven't yet been able to justify spending the money it costs to attend those events.

Plus, I generally don't drink a ton (4 beers is a big night for me) and I hate getting drunk. So drinking events like these really don't cater to me.

I would follow brewtallyinsane.com and porchdrinking.com. They typically have a good calendar of events leading up to GABF.

For me the events are so awesome because you mingle with the Brewers and chat with other beer lovers. I can't even explain how much fun GABF events are, drinking a ton of beer aside.

This. We'll have it posted in the coming weeks, along with @ssteigerwald's popular Google calendar version.
