It hit whole foods Newport yesterday.

 

bold statement. i'm very interested in trying. for me Grapefruit Sclupin has become the beer of the summer. Can't drink enough of it. Now they're selling it at my local Trader Joe's too. no refrigeration section which sucks, but it's coming in pretty damn fresh (within the month)

 

it wasn't clear. but it sounded like it. at least i want to think so

maybe during this Modern Times expansion it's time to think about opening a facility in Los Angeles. just a suggestion

 

oh, ok. there expanding around their brewery, for their benefit (and ours). not in la, for yours.

Good to know -- haven't really seen it around the South Bay area at all yet. Total Wine in Redondo thought they were getting yesterday, then... no dice.

I'm as much a MT fanboy as anyone, but this one's not suited for my palate. With every sip, I just kind of wish it was Grapefruit Sculpin.

 

I still do really enjoy Grapefruit Sculpin. It's one of my favorite ballpark beers. I have one almost every Padre game. But the Fortunate Islands w/grapefruit is a bit lighter, so it's even better for the hot days, in my opinion.

Ha, glad someone else has a beer ritual at the Padres game. I always head straight for Ballast, grab a Calico and then if V@S or Sea Monster is on I will still with that, otherwise..speedway...all night.

 

It will not be bottled. It's a single 30bbl batch that will largely be poured in our tasting rooms, at the Festival of Dankness, and a few off-site events. Again, if I had more Nelson, you'd see more of it, but alas. We just wanted to splurge on something super special for the Festival.

Jacob, I assume no changes to tasting room hours/availability during the expansions?

 

No no, definitely no changes. This is going to happen over the course of 8-9 months and a lot of the action is going to be in the new buildings. If there are days with particularly loud or intrusive construction, we'll let people know via social media.

Sounds a lot like Council's Bully Pulpit with Grapefruit Zest. I had to mix them 1:1 just to get down to the maximum amount of grapefruit I could handle, and 2:1 to get to the right amount for me.

 

Speedway is my sixth inning beer. I almost never waver from that routine. Lately I've been grabbing Spirit of 77 from Fall for my first pitch beer.

 

Is fall brewing available inside the park?
I like to hit Lolita's grab a couple 394s and a speedway inside

 

It is! In a "hidden" area. There's a small bar in left field with four taps that you can't find anywhere else at the park. Last time I was there they had Fall's Spirit of 77, a Monkey Paw beer (I forget which one), Ballast Point's Grunion, and Benchmark Table Beer.
