    September 19th:

    - Armsby Abbey -- Worcester, Massachusetts
    - Hill Farmstead Brewery -- Greensboro, Vermont
    - Lord Hobo -- Cambridge, Massachusetts
    - Novare Res Bier Café -- Portland, Maine

    I figured might as well...discuss!

Having not attended a Zwanze in the past, are there likely to be other cantillon bottles for sale at any of the locations?

Novare Res normally has some bottles available year-round, for on-site consumption. If you're asking if bars are selling bottles for take-home, the answer is no. Unless you are experiencing something different, which would surprise me.

Hill Farmstead would be a different beast as they do normally have bottles available for retail sale. I've never seen Cantillon available there, but I've never been to their Zwanze day.

    Hey,

Sorry I'm not understanding. I plan on going to armsby or lord hobo (will be tough to swing HF but maybe) and I was curious, will there be other cantillon offerings available for on site consumption on zwanze day? (I know you can't tell the future, so I guess I'm asking have they had other cantillons available for on site consumption on past zwanze days at these locations?)

    Cheers!

Yes. Usually. Availability varies by venue, but they've usually saved/gotten something.

The tasting room will be open by then, so I'd guess their event might become more like everyone else, but they usually release details in advance.

LH will send out a pic of a ton of rare bottles from the cellar in anticipation for ZDay...but then not offer any of them on the menu. If you are lucky you might get a card though!

Don't forget you have to line up at like 7am now even though people are just walking into Novare and Armsby at 3pm for the tapping.

For the Flora Cherry release, Shaun sold Loons. One fruited Belgian a day, had enough per day for the first 60-ish inline: LPK, LPG, Boos, and Fou.

They had a lot on the menu last year. Stuff like Fou was very expensive and still sold out quickly. I think they had 3 different taps of Cantillion too. You got to get there early though, or show up after the toast.

Lord Hobo around 10 am...that line stretched nearly around the block. Most of those people weren't getting in. I talked to some in line, they had been there since about 8 am.

All set with waiting for hours for a couple pours and few ounces of a dark sour.

Was thinking of attending this year, and while LH is the closest option, there's no way I'm getting in line at 8AM. Can anyone comment on their experience at Armsby last year?

I find it funny that Cantillon admits they are frustrated with how their bottles can be priced in the U.S., yet every year they work with bars that charge $50-$60+ for their bottles.

Anyone going to the Novare? It's our 5th anniversary and we'll be up in Portland. Probably won't make the 3pm tasting but hoping to stop in around 6-7pm and have a few good drafts.

I'll be going, haven't missed a Zwanze day since I moved to Portland. Novare is always a great time. Unfortunately, all the Cantillon will probably be done by the time you get there, but I'm sure they will have some other great stuff on tap.

damn was hoping to grab something, but i imagine they do it right and have lots of great stuff on tap that day(not that they don't on a regular basis)
