You don't have to convince me or most anyone else in this thread how great some of the breweries are here, but my contention is we will never get the notoriety that some others do, for a lot of reasons. I mean, if Fat Head's isn't widely considered the best brewer of IPAs, or at least top 2-3, Ohio will never get its due.

Where have you tried the Elevator beers? One thing I have found throughout the restaurant industry is how horrible most restaurants and bars are not cleaning their lines properly. I can go on and on about this subject and it is the BIGGEST SINGLE problem facing the industry today.

Mike (?) - I'm not trying to convince you or anyone on this thread about the quality of our beers. I am just suggesting that the press and awards from lots of places especially the GABF awards have changed the perception already. I chat with people from the UK, Europe throughout the northeast and out west and many of them are well aware of the outstanding beers being produced here. Perceptions are changing. Rob

I will say re: Elevator, Big Vic is a superb and underrated beer.

Bottled and at their taproom as well. Haven't liked a single one that I've tried, and from what I can tell by how their stuff just sits around in grocery stores for months, a decent amount of people in Cbus agree with me.

I have a good friend who used to be an assistant brewer there and even he thought it was terrible stuff.

Just not a fan. Different opinions.

My favorite JO beer is still BA Wood Burner. That beer was incredible.

Let me preface this post by saying that "I ❤️ Head Hunter." However, I grabbed a 4-pk yesterday dated 7/24 and something is amiss. Can anyone confirm that they too are experiencing this strange phenomenon with the 7/24 bottles? Someone PLEASE tell me it's me and that I'm possibly coming down with some illness affecting my taste buds.

I will inquire at the brewery this weekend.

Bar Bar was LEGIT. That beer was one of the standouts at a tasting I went to, and it included SITR with Peaches, Fantasia, 3 different 50/50 Eclipse variants, Pappy Van Winkle Big Black Voodoo Daddy, Event Horizon, Boris Royale, HF Florence, Hunahpu, Upland Sour Reserve, among others.

Also, I have to thank @SDRedDevil for the mega fresh bottle of Pure Hoppiness. Damn this beer is good. I guess THAT'S the Alpine that was supposed to be here, instead of the Green Flash attempt.

Mine was infected. Seriously, OK at first and then once it warmed it was a drain pour. Horrendous battery acid finish. Saw most people checking it in as "amazing bro", but I can only speak for the can I had.

But Lville and others I'm sure. Should be everywhere.

I've noticed that most of the HH I've had this year tend to have more of a grapefruit bent to them. Could very well be they are using hop alllocations for other beers or whatever and I may be on an island in that thought, but the DANK made that beer my go-to. The grapefruit IPA trend in general kind of irks me. GET OFF MY LAWN. :grinning:

    Robble robble.

Personally, I like the mega-tropical-fruit bombs. A little dank to balance isn't bad, but if I drink something that tastes like the smell at a Bob Marley tribute show, eh...

I appreciate it! I drink more Head Hunter than the average person and it has always been fantastic, so I am hoping that is was just a fluke. Maybe I'll just buy another 4-pk to compare it to

As I mentioned above, Head Hunter is my go-to. This particular bottle had absolutely no smell, appeared flat and tasted boozy like a 6 month old Hop Slam.

@JArt - FHs takes QC seriously so I'm sure they will look into it. I know they recently had to throw away a lot of Trailhead due to some canning issue.

A brewery of their size is going to have a bad batch from time to time, though.
