No worries, good luck finding it @beerded_drunk! Here on the other side of the state it is always a tough time finding a new limited release like this from across the country.

Had high expectations of this because of how amazing VaS is. CBTS was incredibly underwhelming. Weak coffee, nonexistent vanilla, and nothing else about it was very tasty. Pass.

This beer still doesn't exist in Northern California. :slight_frown:

This is an excellent beer. I've had it at the BP brewery in Mira Mar and it definitely caught my eye. Luckily I'm local so it's in most of the grocery stores and bottle shops.

It’s showing up all over San Jose now. I do want to try this but the price point is making me hesitant. This essentially sounds like a light version of Victory at Sea (coffee and vanilla beer, just cream ale instead of imperial porter with half the abv), but it’s the exact same price.

    finally hit the MN market.

in regards to the VaS comparison, this is more enjoyable. well, at least in my opinion.

Great beer all around. Light in color and medium body. Not as heavy as Victory at Sea. It's a must have!

Although I'm not sure Ballast Point really thinks that, I'm pretty sure the price you see at the store is not set by Ballast Point.

This recently started getting distributed out to MA, and I think it's a pretty fantastic beer. Unfortunately for Calm, its price point is on par with that of other Ballast Point beers that take a front-seat for me (Sculpin being one of them).

Exactly what it is. It's a great beer, but Victory at sea is a decent value for the style, I'd expect a cream ale (even with vanilla and coffee) to cost a bit less at least.

I'm liking it... it's kinda like a Victory at Sea for the hot summer months. Not on par with Victory, but it's a nice refreshing coffee ale. Heck of a time trying to find something to pair it with though.

I'm thinking it might actually go well with something minty and chocolate, but I'm looking for something more along -actual- food lines.

Already picked this up twice, its not that its amazing, (although i do think it's very tasty), its just that it fills such a unique void. If i want something light and refreshing, but i'm not in the mood for hops and i want something more complex then the average lager or pils, this really hits the spot. I've never had a beer that made me think i was drinking iced coffee before:slight_smile:

I tried it with a splash of v@s in an attempt to boost the coffee+vanilla flavor. It was not bad.

Bought a sixer on Saturday at Manchester Wine and Liquors here in Central Connecticut but have yet to try it. I like that this and 4Beans are out at the same time.

had this over the weekend. At $14 per sixer I think it is overpriced, and nothing too crazy or worth seeking out, but I did enjoy it and would buy it again. (Unless there was something less expensive and better.) It reminded me a lot of Victory at Sea, but lighter, easier to drink, and much more approachable.
