I love Syrupy Stouts, yet this one nails a Hoppy experience. I think it would go well with some Mango Kush or Pineapple Express.

Roger I am surprised at the look of that beer. Very poor appearance. In 2013 I describe it as "handsome bright yellow with an amber depth. "

I've been dying to try those but have avoided them due to questionable freshness and $. Maybe I'll give it a shot now.

Yeah you do want them fresh, which may be the biggest obstacle.

I have four pieces of brilliance from @kemoarps that I have had to put off going to due to vacation, work, etc.,

Without further wait, I introduce the allegro

From Ram Restaurant and Brewery Gin Barrel Aged Baltic Porter

After the head subsided and without benefit of the wash following a swig, we have dramatic lacing.

Nose is primarily chocolate with perhaps a hint of gin but I have to wonder if I'd sense it if this were a blind study.

Initial taste brings about a viciously vibrant journey that contains in near equal part, molasses, copperymetallic, gin and a tartness that I honestly can't nail down to one particular flavor but in there somewhere is a dash of licorice, lemon and savory spice. Yep, this one is weird as he'll and certainly proper to hold the title of allegro, as it's fast and furious and draws you in to it's madness without giving up it's true ending. You just have to hold on and keep trying to figure it out.

Moving along with Jack... was very happy to see that up along the East coast going North from Philly there was much of this breweries beers to find, always wanted to try more of their stuff... and well... I should certainly get my fill in the coming days....

Leisure Time Lager - Jack's Abby Brewing

Jack's Abby Brewing - Leisure Time
    by imbibehour, on Flickr

    ------------------------------

Poured from the bottle into a Libbey style pilsner glass.

Deep and solid opaque lemon yellow. A bit of fine carbonation, a few flecks of trub as well. Snapping soapy white fine head of a finger, quickly dissolving to a simple collar. Looks a little wet and lifeless.

Aroma is not exactly pleasant. Rancid lemon, and a bit of bile like bouquet. For once I can detect the corriander in this , and it comes off almost vegetative. Some slight citrus character saves this from being totally revolting and a dud on the nose.

Palate saves this just barely. If anything comes off way better. A slightly wet body, but has some depth to it. Citrus breakfast orange a bit, but the excellent flavors seem to come on the aftertaste. Light toasty malt and a good doughy bread like finish. Much more orange tasting, but also gets into fruited beer qualities.

Basically ok, but also very passable and not memorable. Nose is far too often putting to just even have this casually

this is why we do this, your honesty is very righteous, and the information will steer us one way or the other because of it, not just you saying this beer was great because you chose it for beer sunday because that's easy to do, so, thanks for the honest review! cheers

Good evening from Chez Rose on this fine Sunday. Odd day here with clouds and wind this morning, then just clouds, and now at seven pm the sun is out. That's fine with me because it never got above 80 degrees.
Spent the afternoon in the kitchen as sous chef for the missus. Cucumber pickles are in the jar. We will be finishing up pickled peppers tonight. Sweet peppers...meh...in a few weeks we'll be bringin da heat.

Today's new beer is Troublesome from Off Color Brewing.

Lightly hazy golden color with a short-lived fizzy head. Lively carbonation, though. Aroma...wheats and biscuit-like with a bit of citrus and some peppery spiciness. Maybe a bit vague initially. Smells stronger as it warms, but the same notes. The taste...what strikes me first is the pleasant sourness. Then sweetness. A hint of lemon joins in, then some phenolic spiciness and a little coriander. The feel is different...it's not creamy, but it isn't clean and crisp either. Then I get a taste of salt after the fact...hey that's cool.

Overall, a beer I can enjoy. I'm not too familiar with the style yet, so I don't know how it stacks up. To me, the flavors are fresh and integrated pretty nicely.....but then the salt comes to play...I like it, but not sure if the flavors normally play that way in the style. I expected salt, couldn't find it until the aftertaste. The acidity is pleasant, and there is a nice sweetness.

Honest...I bought it because the label made me laugh, now the beer is making me smile! I'm feelin' 3.7-ish about it.

I will catch up with today's posts after we get done with home canning day...the first of a few! A bunch of imaginary likes in the meantime, kids.

I selfishly limited suggestions to beers that she might bring back home. Good to know, as we'll both be back up there in February.

A second submission today - "Genesis" a blonde sour from Wicked Weed Brewing, Asheville NC:

Cloudy gold pour. Sour fruit juice nose with a hint of coriander. Some pineapple as this opens up. Sour peaches and mangos, with some funky/clove flavors. A juicy pineapple middle and sour tropical fruit finish. Some wine dryness, lite mouthfeel and sour fruit tongue coating. I'm really enjoying this beer - lots of sour fruit flavors. A little funk and drying wine linger - I want more! Overall a 4.25

Kind of new beer Sunday with this one, Weyerbacher 20th Anniversary. I did have the pleasure of having a pint on draft a few weeks ago when my girlfriend was showing some art at a local bar, but on finally reviewing it in some proper glassware.

12 oz bottle, dated 6/9/15,poured into a tulip

A- A slightly hazy dark brown with ruby red tint and a two finger off white head.

S- Dark fruits, raisins, figs, coriander, Belgian yeast, some chocolate, faint anise.

T- Figs, raisins, container, anise, bananas, cloves, wheat, fruity.

    M- Smooth, medium body.

O- A nice BSDA, better warmer out of the bottle than draft. Feel this could age well or throw in into red wine or bourbon barrel and it would be great! (464 characters)

Hello NBSers, on a muggy Sunday evening in Minnesota, it's a great day for a session IPA (I'm a poet and I didn't know it!).

Look: Golden straw, semi-translucent, 2+ fingers of beige head. Beautiful beer.

Smell: Citrus (duh), but also some pineapple maybe, or passion fruit. Very nice.

Taste: Really bright up front, the hops ride all the way through, lots of citrusy flavors.

Feel: It's effervescent at first, but then finishes almost syrupy. A bit of a head scratcher.

Overall: This isn't on the level of Founders All Day IPA, but it's a very nice entry into the burgeoning field of sessionable IPA's. I'm a big Green Flash fan, and I'd buy this again.
