I get asked this question pretty frequently because I'm always asking for bitter, sour things. I'm a rare bird looking for a rarer beer. I hate sugar, and sweet flavors. I can't drink soda, but I've always liked the sharp, fizzy carbonation.

Recently I discovered beer. A cold, carbonated drink that's not sickeningly sweet like a soda for babies. Beer is still too sweet for my taste. Almost every beer seems to pride themselves with balancing hop with malt. I don't want any balance at all full tilt hop overload. Star away from my beer with your disgusting malt.

I'm looking for the most bitter, acrid beers imaginable, hops are in and any trace of malt is so out. I thik crisp, refreshing, and drinkable all go hand in hand with bitterness and long finish lemony acrid aftertaste.

I also like the stinky stankiest most potent cheese. I live life.

Thank you for any beer suggestions or leads. Enjoy your journey.

Where are you located? Your area of the country/world is going to be the biggest factor in what should be suggested.

If you're into bitter, needless to say you should be drinking IPAs... single IPAs rather than DIPAs, since many DIPAs are on the sweeter side.

I'm fairly certain the "mistaken" spelling is intentional, given the BA name he chose for himeslf. While I may question his sense of humor, I don't think there's anything wrong with his post otherwise.

Since you say you like sour, maybe sour beers are in as well as just one-dimensional hop bombs?

And if you're saying you like the idea of all hops, no malt, then I have just the thing for you - a relatively recent trend called the session IPA. I don't want to paint them all with the same brush, but many have no semblance of balance whatsoever.

Somewhere out there is a gimmick beer with your name written all over it. Good luck. I hope you find it so that you can then move on to your next challenge

Well, that rules out any beer suggestions I might have had.

What you need is a big hoppy Dutch Dark Limburger Blueberry Breathless Ale.

I too hate sweet stuff, soda being on top of the list. I too love stinky rank cheese (though I think it's a bit odd to assume people who don't somehow aren't living life, but that's another conversation). So while I'm not you, my searches for beer, like yours involve and aversion to sweet things. I recommend Anchor California Lager. It's not the bitterest beer I've had, not even close, but definitely the driest, with a finish that is crisper than any other I can remember. Good luck!

Maybe head for some saisons. A good saison will be often times refreshing and very dry. Broad style though

Idk man , to someone who is that sensitive to sweetness I wouldn't say that saisons aren't sweet or at least semi sweet most of the ones I've tried do have a touch of sweetness to them but at the same time it might just be my palate. If anything I'd agree with the session IPA recommendation they are pretty much just hop juice.

Dry is the key word. Either through review descriptions or on the beer descriptions themselves. I seem to believe a beer like Ballast Point Sculpin finishes quite dry. The malts aren't the showcase.. Another would be Hop Hunter by Sierra Nevada. That one seems to be almost entirely this grassy pine flavor with a lighter than usual ABV, so the malts arent quite the showcase either. I hear many complaints that it is a bit lackluster in the malts and body category. But I personally like both for what they are.

As someone exploring the world of bitter beers, you need only one entry ticket. Sierra Nevada Torpedo. This was my gateway drug into the IPA world, as I hope it will be yours as well.

Thank you all personally for the responses, I never expected I'd receive d ml so many. I've learned a lot in a short amount of time and I'm enjoying it.
There has to be malt to be beer. I guess it's okay of hops brings malt to the party if malt will be quite and act like malt isn't there. Dry like the word key from key word is a three letter word. It is also a very apt descriptor and like bitterness indispensable. A single IPA could be the ticket, but a double should be avoided. I'm looking forward to a Cuvee, a Terroir, a Blueberry and more! I wish you all growlers of sunshine, thank you once more fair guides! Fare thee well!
