There's this great site on the web now, gives you all sorts of beer information and insight... if you just take the time to look.

    German Pilsener
    Description:
The Pilsner beer was first brewed in Bohemia, a German-speaking province in the old Austrian Empire. Pilsner is one of the most popular styles of lager beers in Germany, and in many other countries. It’'s often spelled as "Pilsener", and often times abbreviated, or spoken in slang, as "Pils."

I heartily agree. I've been going there for years. The brewer specializes in lager styles, which he is a master of. The Cerna Hora is the standard I judge all other North American pilsners by. It's the equal of the best I've had in Europe. His ales are also great. Typically, L'Amere a Boire is overlooked or not given due respect by many American hopheads visiting Montreal who make a beeline to Dieu du Ceil to have the latest tricked out, trendy, barrel aged, juniper berry, etc. infused concoction.

Jever is my new favorite pilsener. I discussed my thoughts on it over on the active Jever thread.

Someone above mentioned it as part of another list, but if you can get your hands on a sealed case (packeged in green bottles) of Trumer Pils, it's wonderful! On the less hoppy/bitter side of the style IMO, but just a nice, bready, malt-focused beer. Also nice as although it's from "across the pond" it's also brewed in CA, so relatively easy to find fresh.. I do think only a few larger cities get it though outside of the West coast, though.

Trumer is indeed a tasty beer! I particularly enjoy the malt backbone of that beer.

I used to be able to buy it in Delaware but they reduced their distribution region to:

“Trumer Pils is currently available on the West Coast (California, Oregon, Washington) and in Colorado, Texas and Illinois.”

I regularly visit family/friends in Texas and I make sure to buy at least one 6-pack of Trumer Pils while visiting.

I had it most recently in San Diego when I was there attending the National Homebrewers Conference.

    Cheers!

Well I love Victory's forays into the style, but they're hardly traditional are they?
I personally quite enjoy Pilsner Urquell, and Gambrinus. For German versions- it has to be Weihenstephaner's Pilsner.

Left Hand Polestar, Wurzburger, Victory Prima Pils, Steigl, Paulaner, and Lakefront Klisch are my favorites. Not sure what you can get, but those are my votes.
I don't know that I've ever really had Urquell...

    For non-US pilsners:

German Pilsners: Bitburger and Raderberger are both pretty great! And (don't laugh) I think Beck's is very solid.

Czech Pilsners: Budveiser (Budvar), Staropramen, Gambrinus

Have you had it since it's been brewed in the U.S. by AB? In a word, bleah.
