How many states truly have good local sours? California obviously (RR, Bruery, FW, Almanac, Rare Barrel, etc.) and I guess CO (Casey and Crooked Stave) but there's a pretty limited number of breweries making world class sours overall. In MA we have Night Shift which is hit or miss with sours, Jack's Abby is OK, Trillium is getting better but still nothing fantastic and that's about it.

Mystic and CBC are going to be pumping out some bottled sours now that they've got their system up and running. Two underrated breweries imo... keep an eye out for them soon!

Good call on CBC. Although everything we've mentioned is pretty much brewery only and doesn't hit distro.

Off the top of my head, I know I see White Birch Berliner on shelves, Anderson Valley Gose, and the occasional Allagash 375.

PA actually does pretty ok. Bullfrog's Grrrz is definitely considered world class; Pizza Boy is doing pretty well and may not be quite world class but is definitely better than hit or miss; and Tired Hands, though very limited and few and far between, makes very good sours as well. Weyerbacher and Forest & Main have put out a few that were pretty good, and Free Will is um... trying.

    Tree House LIF:

OK, since I've entered a couple of your LIF's already, and my RWC one isn't going to be done until the end of October, I figured I should come up with a "fresh" one here. Get your guesses in quick - the deadline for this one is TOMORROW - Thursday, August 13th at NOON.

This Friday I'll be stopping in at Tree House on my way to my friend's house in northern CT. Since I'm working all day, my arrival time is going to be around 7pm, shortly before closing and well after the initial can rush. My plan is to get the maximum allowed cans, and if it's something unique (a new Curiosity or a rarity of some kind) I'll also have my gf come in with me so I can get 2x the daily limit. Also, if the wait for growler fills is less than 15-20 minutes and there's something worth while I'll probably get a 750 or maybe a 2L since we're visiting friends who also like good beer.

So, my question to you is: How many ounces of delicious Tree House beer will I leave Monson with? Closest (no PIR) will get a variety of Tree House cans as well as whatever else I can fit in the box. Have at it!

I think a lot of smaller guys have sours -- Plan Bee is hitting sour season, there's a tiny place called the Brewery at Bacchus near me that makes great ones too. Captain Lawrence supposedly makes great ones, but the quantity and distro system make it ridiculously hard to acquire. I also think there's a difference between one-off type of sours and widely distro'd ones.

Also, doesn't Texas (Jester King, Wicked Weed) have a decent selection of sours? I'm still not 100% sure of the distinction between sours and wild ales sometimes.
