Bells Oberon was the first thing that came to mind for me, but after reading the thread I'll echo the Grapefruit Sculpin sentiment. Would take a regular any day, feel the grapefruit overpowers the otherwise excellent ipa (that's already a little citrusy.)

Also, based on the small taste I've had, I'm not sure I get the Hunahpu's hype (but I'll reserve judgement until after I've gotten to sample more than an ounce at a crowded bottle share.)

I'll give you just two of my top "I don't get them" beers.

I don't get the hype surrounding beers like New Glarus Raspberry Tart or Belgium Red, or any of the sour beers produced. Just not my cup of tea. I had a chance to try Surly Pentagram at a bottle share recently and to me it resembled brown pickle juice...

Great Lakes Christmas Ale... Was beyond disgusting last year, it was the one beer I just simply couldn't drink it was so bad.

And it sells like crazy here in CLE and people go crazy for it... Don't get it.

Meh. Not a beverage I like either but this thought just doesn't fly with my. Funny I see it here quite often and have heard beer people say it IRL then they order a ST Chocolat or Creme Brulee or Horchata inspired beer or a Raspberry berlinner. Why not just have some chocolate, a creme brulee, a horchata, or raspberries? There is more beer masquerading as food and beverage products than there are malternatives.

Funny, because on my first try I thought it was amazing, and each attempt thereafter, unbearable. I think Sorachi Ace hops are temperamental and can turn on a dime. That, or as a crop they are inconsistent.

    Anchor Steam Lager.

Pretty much any American or English Barleywine I've tried with the exception of DFH Old School. However I only had that once back over 5 years ago.

Just about every pumpkin ale I've tried with the exception of Pumking and Warlock.

    Most dopplebocks I've had.

    Delirium Nocturnum and Noel.

Red ales. I assume that somebody likes them, but as beers they just aren't good! Does anybody here actually just wake up and say to themselves "damn, a red ale sounds great today!"? I don't think that person exists...

Sculpin - had it on several occasions and to me it's a below average IPA, I will never understand the hype behind this beer

Agree with this, regular old Sculpin is much better. Also don't get Habanero Sculpin, and most other spicy or spiced beers for that matter.

Others I don't get are Surly Darkness, Dales Pale Ale, Pumking.

For me, it's a style. Tripels...I have tried what are considered some of the great ones in the style, but have disliked every one I've tried. Makes me think that style is just not for me. And I'm ok with that!

Deschutes, anything by them really. It's always been a "ok, that's beer" reaction, regardless of the beer. And I love Portland. And I love Oregon. So I should love Deschutes' stuff, but I just don't. Odd.

Sculpin, although I think Grapefruit Sculpin is great.

KBS is a great beer, but for me Tweak and Sunday Morning Stout were better.

I'll third Grapefruit Sculpin. I just don't get the appeal of it at all. The grapefruit gives it a flat, monotone flavor. It also annoys me that this beer takes up tank and shelf space from other beers.

Stoneface IPA. Middle of the road IPA for me. Think it gets hyped up by NH people since VT, MA, and ME have much better offerings and they feel left out.

Easy. It was way ahead of it's time. Pioneer beer, so to speak.
