Half Acre Dasiy Cutter was a very overated beer IMO. Brought 4 pack cans back from Chicago and shared with several people here in MD that are into craft beers and Pale Ales /IPAs in general, and no one thought they were anything special at all, just avg/solid at best. Got a few bottles of 3F Alpha Kings brough home as well, and everyone back here in MD I shared with loved those. Probably in my top 5-10 Pale Ales/IPAs (whatever you want to call that beer).

The 3 Floyds hate makes me giggle.

    My vote is Boulevard

Palo is one of my favorite beers. Haven't really had any of their bombers but the only beer I've had from them I didn't really like was Midas touch.

How is boulevard over rated they aren't talked about much outside of their saisons, and the smokestack series has some great beers.

Most of the big brewers I enjoy a lot. I considered saying Green Flash but people know what they bring to the table.

Almost said Bells too but they do some nice things.

Even Sierra Nevada. That's sacrilege though because they are often a gateway to craft

Furious is meh at best, and Darkness is an over-sweetened Dark Lord competitor. Neither are over a 3.8/5 for me. Never had Todd the Axe Man. FFF makes decent stuff but people around here go bananas over it as if no one else makes a good pale ale. It's not like they're pumping out pales on par with Lawson's or Hill Farmstead, they're just good. But their stouts and barleywines are all sub-par and extremely overpriced. So I mainly throw them in as overrated because everyone has them as a top 5/10 brewery, and they're not even close to that in my book. Oh, and the owners are douchebags.

Plenty! But, I'm sure there are almost as many underrated breweries... due to lack of distribution. It may be true that there's also lots of bad beer that shouldn't be so accessible, but for them it's more about financing their bad growing beer business.

Instead of keeping the topic as a negative spite-driven conversation, maybe swaying it to the positive side of things... like why are these breweries overrated to begin with? Is it because there's so much more talent in brewing these days that the classic "best" are no longer "as good" in comparison -- or is there just a lot of bad beer shaking things up?

I will fairly identify as a Floyds dick rider. If they bottle it, ill buy it at least once.

But in all seriousness, can someone explain to me the "douchebag" and "assholes" label that Floyds gets? I was there yesterday for my 4th time and everyone was super nice and helpful. Even moreso than my first few trips. The door guy chatted with us about all of their beer and asked where we were from etc.. our waitress was the sweetest girl in the world and after she went off shift, our next waitress was sweet too.

I hear these same complaints all the time and every trip I've made there just makes me want to come back

And no, I'm not a west coast hater. I just think that there are far better breweries in other regions.

Laugh all you want but I live in VT and have had 95% of what Hill makes on tap. Trust me, there are places that haven't quite reached the masses that rival and/or beat them on some of their styles.

Ive been there. The saisons are world class and they are doing unbelievebale things with IPA's.

Silly sting - Post is about overrated beer. Beer can only be overrated if it is good to begin with. One can think 'Maine Beer Co.' is overrated, but given the fact that they are relatively new - that is a compliment.

I'll never grow tired of their Double IPA offerings, this is true but I can't really say on the Saisons as I stay away from them. What I'm talking about are the other less popular styles they offer, especially going into winter. I think they really struggle with the darker/malt stuff while a brewery like Bent Hill can hit an absolute homerun on the same style AND make it more interesting. But they don't have the hype and aren't on the way to HF so they don't get a ton of visitors. Also, I think Bent Hill does more interesting single hop series offerings where as I'm ready to fall asleep with the HF offerings. Ever had a single hop made with Belma? I'm glad HF is doing great and I think their new setup with drinks on site will be huge. I just don't like how folks will drive all the way up there then straight back to MASS/CT without making a single other stop just because BA don't put their average above 4.

This has always been my experience at FFF too. I could understand being disappointed if you assume they always have ZD to go and drove a long way, but just do some homework before you go and just enjoy the ride.

The brewery that you (yes, you) love so much is definitely overrated.

You must be joking. You say they are the most over rated brewery yet you admit you love the IPA's and hate the saisons...... which is the two styles they are best know for. Furthermore 12 of their current offerings are dark/malt forward beers. 11/12 are rated 90 or above and the 12th has no raitings yet. Its cool to love and support local breweries but saying you think a brewery is overrated while hating the styles they are most know for is a joke. Thats like me hating sours and saying cantillion is the most over rated brewery in the world.
