I love these "what popular beers do you hate" in disguise threads.

    1. For those that hate on Sculpin, have you ever had it really fresh? That beer falls off hard, try it in the first couple weeks and it is amazing. It's not the same after one month, which is unfortunate.

    2. Dark Lord was good pre 2008-2009 or so. That's when it got its name. The beer world has changed since then so it isn't as crazy unique as it once was. Also it has seemed to have gotten sweeter over the years. It's normal not to like it much now. It continues to live on the awesome festival that goes along with it, and it's history in the craft beer scene. (which it is well deserving of IMO)

    3. People who don't like Lagers... that seems way to general. The style varies widely. Try a good dopplebock, zwickel, maibock, steam beer, Czech Pils...

So have you had any Scotch ales aged in barrels? Or barleywines? If not, I recommend you try them.

Sour IPA's. Two flavors that just do not go together, IMO.

There used to be a few more highly rated beers that I did not like. I discovered that I was buying single bottles that were way past their best freshness date. Something to watch out for...

    Sierra Nevada Hop Hunter.

There is something in the middle of the taste I don't like. Based on what I read around here people like it a lot more than me. Which is perfectly fine.

Me... I really like a good Red ale. My buddy really digs them too, so there is at least two of us.

Mama' Yella Pils is PBR with a bigger pricetag. And I like PBR, but not at 10 for 6 cans.

Single worst beer I've ever tried. Absolutely nasty.

Jack's Abby Bride Maker. I see a lot of praise on here for that beer. To me it was the most obnoxiously sweet beer I've ever had. Syrupy mouthfeel and just pure sugar. I mean the glass was so sticky it was pulling mustache hairs off. I struggled to finish that bottle.

Sunday Morning Stout. this beer is outright horrible.
2013-2014 BCBS don't think there's been a great Bourbon County since 2012. See what 2015 brings.
    Most Belgian style beers.
    Most IPAs - mediocre.
    Most DIPAs - see IPAs.
Fifty Fifty Eclipse and every other way overpriced beer. Currently Whole Foods Plymouth Meeting has a $74 64 oz Mikkeller growler listed, guess if you have 8 people to drink it with?
My own purchase $75 for 2 1/2 year old Rare. Sorry just not worth the $, not even close.

My point is after 7 years I've tried almost every beer style listed and too many beers to count. These days i stick to a few beers I can get pretty easily and at a decent price. Lagunitas High West, Port Anniversary, Hop 15, Founders Harvest Ale, Sierra Northern Hemisphere, Wake n Bake. Weyerbacher Riserva for sour. Bigfoot was surprisingly good this year.

I can look at any bar or beer listing just go down the line, had it, had it, had it, no not that style, not for me, etc etc.

You have no idea. And thanks. The younger BA crowd who know me (I'm not so young) would beg to differ with you. I'm sure I've been hanging out and doing things you can't even imagine since before you were born ... now go bore someone else.

Mexican Cake, i think it's okay, but nowhere near amazing, praise bomb crushes it IMO. Don't really understand what all the fuss is about.

DL and Huna. DL is mediocre at best. Huna is good but i think Abraxas and some others are better.

I don't get beers that are fermented to be sour in general. I know its the latest craze, but I personally don't want a beer that contains detectable amounts of acetic &/or lactic acid. These are considered faults in other styles, guess I just don't understand.

With all due respect to several BAs whose palates I respect: Hoptimum. This has never tasted like anything more than a boozy, all-over-the-place beer to me. I used to feel the same way about Ruination, but 2.0 is, for me, a significant improvement.

Surly Furious - Keep trying and hoping it gets better, but it doesn't for me.
Stone - Chai Spiced IRS - just a really odd tasting beer.

No, I'm serious, no one in VA can get them here, distribution sucks in this state.

FFF Apocolypse Cow. IPA with lactose? Cloyingly sweet and totally lost on me.
