{shrug} Do I spend a lot sometimes? Sure. Do I take much pride in it? Not really. Do I think people who are proud of finding good beer at a reasonable price, and skeptical about the value of chasing, have a point? Oh, most definitely.

Is snobbery tiring? Definitely. Am I surprised, or particularly concerned? Not at all. There are a lot of people who think they've stumbled on the one true route to beer nirvana on this site, and they advocate to high heaven about it. Most of the time, it is best to just ignore them, but I understand that can be hard.

My particular pet peeve is people being snobs about people being snobs about the various forms of beer snobbery.

I'm often one of the people mentioning "normal" everyday beers in posts when people talk about things. I like to advocate for those beers that don't need extra circumstances to acquire. No I don't judge you or others for consistently doing so, but that is what I do.

For example, there are many Bear Republic Hop Rod Rye bottles on most store shelves...and that beer is just plain awesome.

Wrong. I will make fun of over-spenders, campers and hipsters all I want. What are you gonna do about it, huh? *puffs chest*

I definitely exhibit reverse beer snob traits and I won't be deterred by this thread, which is a thinly veiled tale of a man who went too far down the beer rabbit hole and then suddenly realized he lost the plot, had more beer in his cellar then he could ever consume, and instead of going to his Uncle's funeral he drove over the state line to score some faceless stout that was hiding behind bourbon soaked wood and good marketing

Yes, even if it is Bud Light Mang-O-Rita. (shudders)

I needed this thread. This makes perfect sense to me now. I myself, after a long time of being firmly in the anti-AAL crowd, have reversed direction into a e beer snob. I used to scoff at the adjucts. Now I tell other beer people all the time that PBR is one of my favorites because it really tastes fine (I like it) and it's so cheap. I tried Bud Black Crown recently and was surprised that I enjoyed it. I've drank more Coors Banquet lately than any other beer.

I think this trend is a result of people getting bored of too many IPAs, sick of high craft beer prices, and generally just the whale chasing aspect getting old.

This is beer. It should be easy, affordable, and enjoyable. When you chase nothing but the best all the time it makes beer too serious. I think some people get so obsessed that they self-destruct and throw their hands in the air.

So if I wait hours to get growlers filled or a minuscule bottle allotment of the beers du jour I n the middle of nowhere I'm a snobby asshole, and if I buy beer that I think is just as good locally at a cheaper price and laugh at people that wait in line for hours I'm a douchebag?

    I hate you guys.

I getcha, but I think the attitude you're describing is a small minority of beer lovers...at least I hope so. But I always fall back on what my older brother used to tell me when I was a kid, "most people are assholes"

I thought this was going to be a post about how whenever you talk shit about BMC on BA you instantly get attacked by BMC apologists. Nice twist though.
